Default I don't know what my customer is talking about. Pls help.

Hi Warriors,

I got an email from a customer who says he can't open the downloaded
products he bought from me. The products are the usual pdfs or zip
files, but he says a message comes up saying something like this:

A window WCCL Network pops up *asking for a specific Unique program Code,

and a Source EXE.file*. The Registration Server Script URL info s
provided.

I never had any issue like this before. So I don't know what the
real problem is. Could you please help?

Thanks,
Michael

I guess the first thing is to make sure your customer has Adobe reader installed (if it's a pdf) or an unzip program. Don't assume that Windows will unzip. My Vista doesn't. I have to use Coffeecup unzipper. Windows XP works ok - but Vista just has to be different!

They might be using a Mac or Linux, in which case I guess the same things apply.

Also, make sure they are saving the file onto their computer before trying to open it.

Edit: another thought. Their computer could have been attacked by malware. Tell them to run an antivirus scan and to download and scan with Malwarebytes.

Did you use a special program to zip the files up or create the pdf file? Have other customers had the problem?

If it was me, I'd ask for the exact message he's getting (and when he's getting it) and then google it. It could be something on your side OR it could be on his side, either with the unzipping or with trying to read the pdf file.

Not much help, but hopefully it gets you going in the right direction.

WCCL appears to be a network of free software programs (I say appears because I just googled it quickly).

I would get them to send you a screen shot of the exact message, also get them to specify what OS they're using to aid in trouble shooting.

I Googled the WCCL thing as well, you didn't happen to use this PDF creator did you? PDF-Creator (exe), from WCCL Network - Free Downloads on ZDNet | Shareware, Trialware, Evaluation Software

If the problem was the same as mine, the zip would start to open

there is a way to get it to unzip.

Save zip to documents.
Right click to "open with"
select "browse" and "always use selected program to open file"
select iexplore.exe

Have not had the slightest problem since.

Edit: And not long after this post it stopped working. I downloaded
WinRAR and that is working so far, but it would be nice if Vista could
open a zip file all by itself.

On mine, that's exactly what starts it trying to open repeatedly. IE isn't an unzip program though.
