Need advice on email marketing

I only started building a list as of 2 weeks ago, so I would appreciate some advice.

The incentive for my target market is a course, where they recieve one lesson a day, for 5 days. Each lesson is around 600-900 words long which includes 4 or 5 tips.

I promote a related product in the first and last lesson, but I'm yet to see any sales. I have around 60 subscribers and I was expecting to see a sale by now, but nothing so far.

I know the product sells because I've been promoting it for months from direct linking. It was converting at about 1% hence why I decided to build a list.

Any tips on how to convert better?

It's all about testing and editing.

Look at your open rates for each day's course. If day three suddenly drops in opens, then you should look at the quality of day 2 - because those that read day 2's course must have lost interest. Or you could try to completely redo day 2's course.

Then, you should include some kind of link in each day's message to a place that has more information. Then, you can gauge which lessons are being read and considered. If you have a few lessons that get better clicks, then you can adjust the other lessons to be more like them.

It's a tough thing to do, but you just have to keep on it.

By the way, I don't believe that a 1% conversion rate is very good. You should look into a different product IMHO. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I will look at my open rates in a sec

I think 1-2% is pretty much average when you send somebody directly from an article, could be wrong though.

Edit: Is it possible to see the open rates from follw up messages? I can see the option for "Broadcast Messages" but cant find anything on the 5 follow ups I created.
