Any Notepad Ninjas out there? Quick question

I use notepad on XP a lot. It's useful enough that I've
tolerated it's many weaknesses.

I'm wondering about some of the improved versions going
around. Specifically I would like a notepad that will stay
"on top" on my desktop so I can paste notes into it and
have them where I can see them... my present Notepad
goes into collapsed mode whenever I click on something
else?

Any suggestions of an improved notepad software?

I have thought of 2 solutions for you:
    1) Have you tried Post-it Digital Notes? (I cant put the link due to post counts)
    2) Switch to a mac. There are many sticky notes softwares there.

Thanks guys. It's easy to have blindspots where
you inhibit your own productivity - such as in my
case using notepad long after I'd outgrown it.

I personally use Editpad Lite. Not sure if it has the "stay on top" feature...but it's power-packed and free.

Not that it fixes notepads inadequacies but Power Menu will do the trick for you, it adds a couple of extra menu items to all Windows programs the two most useful are "always on top" and "minimize to tray" and its free.

Great suggestions. I am glad that I came over and read this thread. Again kudos to you because you have answered another question I had. And imagine I did not have to even have to ask.
