Question about promoting CJ products

Dear World Class Marketers,

I want to start promoting products at CJ, but I'm kind of confuse because when I choose a product for example, "product A", I will be competing with the advertiser's web page for "product A" which by the way has #1 ranking in Google, I just want to ask you how to promote CJ's product effectively or any other affiliate programs because most of the advertisers here have a website.

I just started promoting a CB product, different thing I know but bear with me. I assumed that since some people were doing quite well at it and the product also had it's own website it would be hard to rank for. Anyway, I threw up a wordpress blog about it and ranked number 2 for the actual product name. Unbelievable I know but I am suddenly getting turned on to the WP blog thingamajig.

Of course I was carefull in my keyword density for my "article" (didn't write more than one) but other than that I did NO PROMOTION.

I don't mind if you find this unbelievable, I did too when I checked with Google but it's true!
