Basic Q&A about Shopping Cart services

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time-poster. (sounds like a radio show, huh?)

In thinking about the "sales/order process" between the initial "yes, I'll buy" page.....(collecting the initial name and email)....to the Checkout page (collecting payment information and shipping)....to the OTO page (for upselling)....etc.

Obviously there are some technical things (programming) happening in the background that most marketers aren't necessarily interested in getting involved in. (I know I'm not. I'm a marketer, not a programmer).

So, I'm wondering if there's a Shopping Cart service that most people like Kern, Bacak, Brunson, etc. are using to facilitate this.

I've had a 1ShoppingCart account forever but it looks to me like the most advanced functionality it's offering is the ability to automatically unsubscribe a person from one list and add them to another once they buy. I don't see anything in their service about upselling along the sales path, etc.

What do you recommend for creating the product order path that's used by most of the top IM gurus?

Thanks in advance,
Tony

One of the cheaper better scripts that does this is Rapid Action Profits

Check it out. It's highly recommended by anyone that goes near it.

Ah, I'm learning something. So the functionality I'm talking about isn't a feature of a shopping cart program....they are scripts that you put into the webpage that carry the data from one page to another, allowing you to upsell along the way?

Sorry if I'm having trouble expressing my question. For the last several years, I've used the Internet strictly for lead generation for my network marketing business (which works wonderfully).....but the landscape of "internet marketing" has changed alot since I bought that first IMC product from Corey Rudl all those years ago.

Thanks for the responses -- anything more you can offer is appreciated!

Upselling really don't need any specific software. Even your mailing list software can be used to send offers related to your products.

Tony, what you need is a OTO script of some sort. You can
get something that does more but most OTO scripts can,
I believe, do even more than one - an upsell if they
buy, a downsell if they don't, even a downsell of the upsell
        if it fails.

It's not that hard to do technically these days - though
working out the psychology of the offer matters a lot. If you
want to manage a lot of different products and offers though,
or even have your own affiliate program connected you'll
want to look at more integrated solutions like Fantasos
and other scripts... things which make long-term wrangling
of hydra-headed e-commerce businesses simpler and
        quicker.
