I have a challenge!!!

Hey guys,

I am asking all the experts here to help me with their opinion.

So, here is my plan. I have a site to promote which offers a free ebook for the users to download in exchange for their email addresses.

As soon as they are added to my list, they are automatically added to my weekly newsletter which provides them with free valuable content and also subtly entices them to join the membership site.

My aim is to get at least 250 members to join the membership site, which has a recurring monthly billing program. Just FYI, it is in the IM for beginners niche.

My questions to all are :

How long do you think it should take to get at least 250 members? (based on your experience and knowledge)

How many members can I get in a month, realistically?

What are the best promotion methods available?

I have not ran a membership site before but I've heard the average time a member stays around is 3 months. So you will have to consistently be driving traffic and getting new members as they will be recycling every 3 months...

How many visitors are you getting to your site a day? To reach 250 members all depends on the ebook you're giving for free and the amount of content on your site. It's very attainable but just depends on your traffic.

It all starts with your traffic, when you get a sizeable level of traffic to your site, you can funnel some of these to your list and your membership program. Your traffic determines everything.

I did do some research into this last week and the inventor of listwire Gary Ambrose does drip-feed membership sites which means that any new subscriber gets a course starting from day 1, and content is just recycled rather than giving people all the info at once. This is mainly so that people don't just join, get the content and leave.

I can’t comment on his product because I have not bought it, although i am thinking of it. But the theory I would say is bang on!

    I think it is memberspring.com

Thats depends on how persuasive you will be on your clients. Though your theory is good but it has a downside also. I mean, if your clients are just using a disposable email just for the ebook then you might have an inactive mailing list in the future.

Roughly, can anyone calculate, based on statistics how much traffic should I generate to get 250 subscribers to the membership site (not the subscribers to the ebook and newsletter, but the ones which convert from newsletter subscribers to the paid membership subscribers)

    I hope that made sense!

This all depends on how well your traffic generation techniques work out for you.
