Does your list actually LIKE you? (case study)

Quick little success story that I think could inspire my fellow Warriors with some ideas...

On my sales page, a "selling point" I recently added is that when customers buy my product, they get free lifetime updates. If we put out a new, updated version, they get to download it for free.

On my sales page, I make this a big deal. (It's the "final bonus" before I close them.)

I include a cool image of a "Mack Tactics" credit card (the name of my company), sending the message that when they buy my product, they've got a "free pass" to download all the new updates for free...forever.

So about a week ago, I put this policy into action. I added some new chapters to my book and I sent out a blast to my ENTIRE mailing list (buyers and prospects) to tell them "Big news, the new updated version is now available...if you're already a customer, send me a copy of your receipt and I'll send you the download link so that you can get all the new stuff for free. It contains more than 40 pages of all-new content about..." (I listed a bunch of exciting bullet points.)

The effect of this was twofold...and VERY interesting.

First, I got a ton of "thank you" emails from customers: "Thanks, you're the man! Yeah, send me the link!"

Second, my sales for that week SKYROCKETED. I think it's because a lot of the prospects on my mailing list...who'd been thinking about buying my product, but weren't sure...well now they saw that I was a good guy who is looking to help them out in the long-term and not just trying to hustle them for a quick buck.

Also, there was some social pressure built into that email. They want to be PART OF THE CLUB. They want to be one of the guys who gets all the coolest, newest stuff...for free, sent to them directly by me.

If your list likes you, selling to them is easy. I sent out another promo since then (to promote a friend's product) and the response was way more than I expected. I guess I built up a lot of good will.

With that one blast, I looked like a great guy to my customers, and I converted a ton of prospects into buyers. It was a success. Maybe you can pull some ideas from this.
