Free Traffic Question

Hey guys,

I am looking to drive ~700 visitors per day to my sales page for my product. I think a 3% conversion rate is average (is it? or is it lower/higher) and that's the number I am shooting for. I want to do this via free traffic (articles, videos, forums, etc..) and I am wondering if 700 visitors per day is to much to ask from free traffic. You tell me. Thanks.

    700 to much? Are you crazy? - Organic traffic, when gained in the correct mannor can bring in floods of targeted traffic.

    I can help you here by the sounds of things, where are you getting your free traffic from?

    Whoa... so many factors to consider here!

    Re: conversion rates - I think 1% is generally a good estimate for affiliate products (rates might be different depending on the type of product you're promoting). And, of course, that depends on the quality of the product you're promoting plus how well targeted your traffic is.

    Now, about traffic - what keywords are you targeting? What kind of search volume do those keywords receive? If you're working in a super long-tail niche, 700 visitors/day is going to be hard to hit no matter how much free traffic you can get.

    I think the biggest factor here would be time. The amount of traffic you drive is entirely up to you. It will require more time and work to drive larger amounts of traffic to your sales page.

    Of course, it also depends on what you are promoting, and how many things are related to that which you are promoting, as well. Good luck on your venture!

    I gotta agree with Sarah on this one - way too many factors to consider given the little information you provided:

    -what kinda niche are you in
    -how many searches do the KWs you're targeting get?
    -how is the commercial intent of the KWs you're targeting?
    -how many different KWs are you targeting?
    -how are you looking to get your traffic? (get your sales page ranked in google, article marketing, web 2.0, blog posting, forum marketing, etc)
    -what is the conversion of your sales page?
    -what is the conversion of the your feeder content? (i.e. - if you post an article on EZA, what's the CTR from it to your sales page)

    etc.

    Just too broad of a question to give any kinda hard and fast answer to...

      700 daily visitors is not asking for too much... you want to drive thousands of visitors on a daily basis to you sites.


      Yes Sarah Russell is right 1% is about the average conversion rate...

      However if you find a good product (not sure if your marketing your own) it should have a lot of tools at your disposal and the creator will also sometimes have some sort of documentation of it conversion rate or EPC (earn per click). that will help you figure out the numbers.

      Also when picking a good product you can go to compete.com to see the amount of traffic coming in to the site. If it has consistent traffic or its traffic is on the rise and it never dips below 20,00 visitors or so, that's probably a good product.... If 120,000 or more are visiting that page on a m/ basis you know affiliates are making money and that means you can too.

      For fast results target keywords that have 30,000 or less competing pages. You can go up 50,000 but it will take a wee bit longer but not by much though.

    Thank you all so much for the tips.

    To answer a few of your questions; I will be writing quality articles and posting them to the major directories, creating informational videos, creating web 2.0 sites that lead to my site, and maybe some commenting and forum work.
