it is all about networking and building solid relationships. I sent an email out to some of my subscribers, did the follow and unfollow thing...(You need to be careful with that...your account can get suspended)...and
became actively involved....and networked.

Sean, I explained this in another thread, but the short answer is that you rank highly for people who put "USA" as their location... not all Twitter users in the US.

thanks man...definitely not trying to do it.

as Chris pointed out...it is different depending on what users put down IE..
Florida, New York, Earth etc..

But I did a little research..there are over 550,000 on that grader research system. So I am curious as to how that is segmented.

Additionally, according to TechCrunch there are over 900,000 US visitors monthly to Twitter.

Twitter jumped to over 3,500 new sign ups per day.

I was not even into twitter until 2 weeks ago...and now that I am ...it is a fascinating business model and a great example of viral marketing.

All of these would be the same to a human but not to grader:
Tampa
Tampa, FL
Tampa, Florida
Tampa Bay
Tampa area
downtown Tampa
etc.

So put in weroifjoeir or some other made up name and you'll be #1 next time they calculate the rankings. It's sort of like being #1 for your own name, especially if it is an uncommon name.

Your numbers on there are still impressive for the amount of time you've been using the service.

I can't make any real sense out of it....regardless of the grader search. I thought that there may have been a correlation between the ratio's of followers, following and updates.

But when you look at the #1 spot...they are following minimal...and there seems to be no real rhyme or reason behind it.

At the end of the day...it seems like it simply comes down to the amount of updates any given person does for their "Region Entered"....and if that is the case...the whole system is bogus in my opinion.
