Which article directories are the best?

I am new and I'm trying to increase traffic to some brand new websites I own by submitting relevant articles to directories.

Which article directories are the most beneficial to help you get more publicity?

Can I submit the same article to more than one directory?

I am planning on submitting a lot of different articles for each website, just wondered if I could submit my first article to all of them, then repeat the process with my second article and so on.

Thanks for your help!

One that either have high authority, or whose growth are trending towards high authority.

Ezine Articles is a favorite directory of many here.

EZA as mentioned above is the first port of call. Also Goarticles (easy to get published) and Articlebase (Nofollow links but gets picked up by a lot of syndication services). There are hundreds to choose from. Dont forget the web2.0 sites such as Blog.com, Squidoo, and Hubpages are also easy to get ranked for.

Ezine articles is certainly a high-impact, efficient place to focus.

For more ideas on article marketing: I really like Matt Olson's stuff on this forum. A very basic idea that I have picked up from several people is the importance of writing a VERY GOOD unique article that will tend to get passed around or syndicated, regardless of where you initially submit it.

Do you get direct traffic from GoArticles? I don't. I only receive it from Ezine and from Articlesbase.

As far as posting the same article on more than one directory, is that okay?

realnetworker you can post the same article to multiple directories if they will accept content that isn't unique. Some people do this and seem to have ok luck with it, others swear it gives you duplicate content penalties in the search engines. I personally don't know whether it does or not but I prefer to spin my articles into many unique articles to post to different article directories. It seems to work good for me.

I mainly use Ezine and GoArticles.

GoArticles will get less views than Ezine. 6 months ago I was getting 1/4 to a 1/3 of what I was seeing from Ezine. These days I'm getting around 1/10 to a 1/20. I can submit an article to Ezine and see in on the first page of Google - I never seem to get the same from GoArticles.

We revisit this quite a bit here, but, Squidoo and HubPages aren't exactly "directories", in their strictest sense. Unlike Ezine Articles, their TOS require only original content...so, they aren't exactly repositories for content to be syndicated (because they require the content in their databases to not appear anywhere else). On the inverse, Squidoo and HubPages will also give you easy access to very high search engine authority upon publishing.

So, even though you CAN publish articles on both sites, one is an "article directory" and the others are essentially "Web 2.0 rev sharing websites"
