Flippa Experience : Sharing !

Hi;

I want to share you one experience which just happen to me.
I thought this might help someone especially newbies who want to sell his/her website on Flippa.

Ok, here the case.
I get my site on Flippa.
I start the price at $1.
I got it reserved at $200
The BIN price is $1500
Listed the site for 30 days

(I was too ego to let my site price below than that).

Guess what, 20 days had passed, but just got ONE bid (yesterday :p).
Got 240 something views and 5 watched.

Fast forward.

A few minutes ago,
I made a change on my listing.

I removed the reserved price.
I low down the BIN price to $300 +
Changed the ending period to only ONE day.
Bought "Featured Listing".

And here what happen.
Within 5 to 10 minutes, I already have 2 bids.

Well, this not so much success story to share, but what I want to share
here, with the above(little) adjustment to my list, I improved it.

And my instinct say, I can get the BIN price (better than nothing :p)
Hopefully it's true.

I hope my sharing here.

Thanks for your time.

Regards;
Raja Kamil

Please list more about the sale and how it turns out. I currently have a website on Flippa that is getting hundreds of uniques a month and is quickly climbing. I set the reserve at 0 and started the auction at $1.

I'll update what happen to my listing soon when it sold.

Regarding your site, how many people visits your listing so far?
      What is your ending day?

When you list for 30 days, there is no hurry and people will watch to see what happens. So, nothing happens because everyone is watching to see what happens. A reserve price will tend to drive people away too.

I know it is scary to fly naked, but you will get more action that way. Usually you will end up with a higher price, but sometimes you fall short. That is just the way it works, for some reason. Don't ask me why, it just does.

Yes, I read about scarcity and immediately made the change.

I listed 1 site for $197 BIN with just $1 start price, 5 days auction, got no bid for first 4 days. Site was making $10 per month with adsense. last day I got 3 bids upto $20 only. decided not to sell it. IMHO Flippa is getting tough now.

Update : Currently having 9 bids at $60.
Already break even for Flippa cost; ($19 for listing, $40 for featured)

One thing I learn, I also did upgraded my listing when it had less than 4 hours left. (precisely at 2 hour and plus).

        Good luck with yours!

        That's true Mike.
The domain price, not break even yet.
For hosting, I'm using hostgator, which also hosts other site.

Ok, I sold 2 sites last year and 1 last month. The prices were $900, $3,300, and the last month was $3,500. I always select the 3-day auction and must not post during weekends. Best day based on my experience is tuesday or wednesday. I always set BIN a couple of hundred higher than reserved.

BTW - if that is the one in your sig, that seems like a darn good buy for $60!

From what I can see many websites end of getting not sold. It is ok for flippa because they still get the $20 fee but not the seller.

UPDATE : My site just sold at $60
Well, not good, but a good start

This is my first blog sold on Flippa.

PS : Hopefully the bidder changed his mind and I can relist the site on Flippa for free :p
    Leant something important this time.

NEVER start my list at $1
    Why?

because the increment is too low ....$5 for each bids.

    Not good.

Did that when I first started on flippa. Ego kills the sale.

Saw the site, it looks good. It is unfortunate the auction was on the loss making side with cost of the domain and the money (or time) spent developing the site.
