Wordpress With .htm Extensions

Does anyone know how you can make Wordpress have the .htm extension at the end of the posts? I want to convert a static HTML website to the Wordpress platform and need to be able to keep the URL names the same. So I would like it to look like this - http://www.example.com/post-name.htm where I have control over the post name.

Is there a plug-in or special coding that does this? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks a ton!

well not sure why you want to do that, but I don't think there is any seo advantage over it. the basic function seems to me is the same using a redirect engine to re-write the file name...

Thanks for your feedback. It is not for an SEO advantage, although Wordpress does simplify SEO with the automatic RSS feed it creates. It is more for the management end of things, and also for me. I am much better with Wordpress than standard HTML, further adding new content pages on a regular static HTML website is a nightmare especially when navigation doesn't update itself. So that is why I am looking at this option.
