The Bigger the Lie, The Better!
It just isn't right.
It can even be illegal.
Deceiving people with fake testimonials and false income claims can land them in hot water.
And, there's nothing worse than opening an eMail claiming to be a commission, and finding out you "could" be getting eMails like that all the time if you just buy their product.
Of course, thanks to marketers like that, I do get those commission eMails all the time--from all the marketers using that tactic. Doesn't cost me a cent.
Just last week, a poster here took a beating after asking if it was okay to lie in your sales copy.
So, we can agree that lying is bad, right?
Wrong!
Sometimes, it can be okay to lie.
It's okay when it is so over the top that it's easily recognized as a lie.
And you know you're being fed a lie.
And you don't care.
In fact, you eat it up and you head over to their website to buy something.
Just a couple weeks ago, I received an eMail from a business I've purchased from in the past.
They informed me that they had been in contact with the government.
They were concerned about the economy.
But, the government assured them that if every adult in the U.S. purchased from their store, the recession would be over.
Heck, it'd be okay if kids borrowed ma and pa's credit card and bought from them.
The important thing was getting the economy back on track!
It was a simple thing to do too. Just make a purchase from their store.
Of course, it's all a lie!
It may help them get out of their personal recession, but it's certainly not going to help the rest of us.
It's a blatant lie.
They're deceiving me.
They didn't even have a little disclaimer that they were joking.
Did I reply and complain to these dirty little liars?
Did I report them to the FTC?
Did I hit the unsubscribe button?
Of course not.
Because these guys are AWESOME.
It's funny.
It's what they do.
It's one of the reasons why people shop there.
Heck, if I hadn't purchased from them that morning (or was it the night before?), I probably would have gone and bought something.
So, in summary, lying is bad. But, maybe telling a big blatant lie isn't so bad after all.
