WordPress graphics insertion problem, please help.

10 replies
I was inserting a graphic into a WP post when the insert dialog seemed to have changed. I don't have the 'insert into post' button any more and all I can do is save it. So I did, but still I could not find a way to insert it into my post.

I have saved the graphic twice, and I see it in the dialog, listed twice, but no way to insert it into the post, or delete it. Any ideas, please help.

This is what I am seeing, what happened to the insert into post button? It used to be where I put the red dot. I tried both insert dialogs with no luck.

    Shouldn't the picture already be in Media Manager? Have you tried adding the picture through that way? Instead of re-uploading I mean.

    Your screen looks fairly different than mine, are you using the latest version of wordpress? Have you tried inserting an image into another post? If it works for other I would suggest deleting and re-doing the whole post.

    If all else fails and all you want is an image indented into a section of the post, you can achieve this through HTML.

    Try doing the following:

    When editing your post - click the "HTML" tab and add this at the beginning:

    HTML Code:
    <img src="http://www.yourimgagelink.com" alt="Alt Text" style="float:left; padding-right:15px" />
    This will indent the image on the left side, if you want it on the right side, use:

    HTML Code:
    <img src="http://www.yourimgagelink.com" alt="Alt Text" style="float:right; padding-left:15px" />
    Hope this helps.

      Timpears,

      Backup for a second....did you originally click insert picture from your hard drive? I see that you have showing the "Link URL" box filled which I don't normally see when I successfully insert a picture in a post. Try to delete the URL path and reinsert picture.

      Tell me, how did you do the insert in the first place? Did you already have it in the media library or uploaded it in browse mode from your hard drive?

    Netkid,

    Sorry for the slow response. I hope you are still watching and will get this.

    I try to delete that URL but sometimes I forget. I can't have it in there as Google News does not allow it to be linked for some reason. No reason for it to be linked anyway as far as i can see so I wish there was a way to turn it off. The last theme I used didn't put it in there automatically.

    After I get my post inserted and ready to go, I go hunt for a graphic. I download it and edit it with my graphic software to fit. Then I upload it to the server using that dialog box.

    I do this for each post as I publish them. Pretty time comsuming sometimes, but such is life.

      timperars,

      I had a suspicion that your image link was the culprit! Next time if you are trying to "lift" a picture like that, try to right click the picture and then click "save picture as" and bring it in your hard drive. Then you have the image in your hard drive and use the browser mode that picks the picture from your hard drive. That way you have deleted the step that calls out to a URL.

      I seldom, if ever use a URL llink to an image to bring it into a Wordpress blog...just the reason you mentioned.

      Well, glad you got it figured out!

      What do you mean google news doesnt allow a image to be linked? Linked where?

      My images use viva zoom which means when they are clicked they just enlarge but they dont link anywhere
