Is your ego getting in your way?

Hey Warriors,

Recently I've seen a few people posting with an attitude about how other people run their business.

That's fine if you just want to vent, but quite often people are then making statements about what doesn't work or that method x "is not long term" etc.

One statement that caught my eye was someone saying "relevance isn't important" regarding links and blog comments.

I'm not picking on that statement specifically but there seem to be a lot of people that learn the basics of a strategy and then think they know how everyone else is using it.

I know from experience that 'most' things people come here and say do not work - DO work, because I test almost every method I think of or see mentioned so that I get my own reality about how it relates to my business and if it works for me or not.

I also know that just because something doesn't work for me - or that it's not right for me - that's nothing to do with what others will see.

There are a lot of people making great money with methods I have no interest in using and vice versa.

So if you think you KNOW something doesn't work - please think twice before telling others not to do it because you may not actually be helping them.

By all means - share your experiences - I think that's a REALLY valuable thing to do. But please try not to generalise your experience and think others will get the same.

Of course you can feel free to ignore what I'm saying so don't flame me if this hits your sensitive spot - I'm actually trying to look out for you.

One of the only things I think really does apply to everyone is the advice to test things for yourself and get your own reality of what works.

Andy

What works for one marketer will not necessarily work for another marketer.

The results marketer 1 gets will be different to the results marketer 2 gets, as both will be dealing with a:
-very slightly different variation of the strategy, (different approach)
    -probably a different niche,
-a different source/load of traffic visitors,
    -a different email list,
    etc

If you try something and it doesn’t work, don't announce on the forum that 'this method wont work, so don't waste your time trying it'

... but I think they should instead say 'I didn't have much luck with this method, but try it for yourselves, you might have success with it'

Most of the people who say it doesn't work haven’t even tested it properly and the majority of the rest are Not patient enough to wait for the results, so they give up anyway.

And report back if you DO make it work - others will love to hear about why and how.

So many people focus on what does NOT work for them that they forget to look for examples of people making it work so they can learn what to do differently.
