You know that Squidoo is a great way to get traffic. You even have heard many times that it can be an easy way to make some extra money. You know it's free. And you just found a great product to promote. But now you are staring at a blank page wondering how in the world are you going to promote your product in a way that will be appealing, easy but profitable? The worst part is you know that Squidoo expects you to have at least three modules or more. You also know that text modules are the best but that each of them has to have at least 250 words to be of use. As you stare at that blank page, you are asking yourself where do I begin? What do I say? I have been there. Sometimes I just stare and I don't know where to begin. Let me give you an example. Did you see that ad on TV for the "roll up piano keyboard"? As soon as I saw that I said "That would be a great item to promote." I mean you not only have musicians, people that are learning to play, people that just want to play with the keyboard itself and may I add myself to this but the many, many Star Trek fans who saw this on ST:TNG and have to add it to their collection. Just knowing that Star Trek was the inspiration for the keyboard makes me want to get it. All great stuff. But when I got to the Squidoo page, I didn't know what to write. I gave up. I left the lens blank. All I have in my Squidoo account is a name in my dashboard but no lens making money. Why is it so hard to come up with a quick viable lens? Then it dawned on me. At one time I was an Amway Independent distributor. They taught me a very simple formula for selling. It is compelling and emotional. It is not dishonest. I know that I found it hard to resist. That is how I became a distributor. The formula is FEEL, FELT, FOUND. This formula is very easy to adapt to Squidoo. Here is how it goes. Text Module One: I know how you feel. If you can express in a few words the pain that the person is going through. Such as, What you going through after your relationship breakup? Or the pain of seeing Rex scoot his butt over the new white carpet. It is important to use the pain and emotion in a situation. The other important thing to remember is that in this module, it is about using the word "you". Text Module Two: I felt the same way. This is where you bring them into your situation. Let them know that you have been going through the same thing. That there is something in your life that is bringing you pain. It is something that you (and them) need to find a solution to. Text Module Three: This is what I found. This is where you just nicely tell them what you found that helped your situation and possibly can help them. Tell them "Here this will ease your pain." Then give them a short example on how it will help them. If you follow this formula you will find it much easier and quicker to set up a Squidoo lens. And that is my Squidoo Secret Method to make a quick but powerful lens. Gee, I guess it's not a secret anymore! I hope this helps you make some very popular lenses. Brian |

Thanks for the advice. And like the other poster wrote, I think this would work with many things besides just Squidoo. It would work with articles and it's a good idea to at least keep in mind while beginning sales copy. Chai |

Interesting idea. I could see how this "outline" method could help you create the basic structure of a lens, especially if you were short on ideas. - Russ |

Thanks for the post! I attempted to make my first lens but I must have done something wrong - I couldn't find the darn thing anywhere. I thought it would be as easy as WP but nooo......... |

Thanks, Brian, just when I need it! I registered an account, but was phased by the three modules thing and found looking for help on the page very time consuming - but now no more excuses.

Dave, Chai, Russ, Tim, Malachai, Mickey Thank you for your kind words. Mickey, A couple of things about Squidoo. First, you have to save everything. And secondly, log back into your account. If you see the name of your lens there then see if it is ranked. If it is not ranked then it hasn't been approved. Which usually means it needs more stuff. I will always add the post-it note module just to be on the safe side. I hope this helps. Brian |

Brian, awesome formula. I too used to be an amway distributor but I didn't get that formula. Or maybe I wasn't paying attention. ![]() Anyhow, this is powerful information and something not to take lightly. Rick |

Rick, Georg and Dan, Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, I joined Amway after reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I didn't earn but I learned about business and sales. And as they always say education is never free. But then again they said that before the WWW was invented. ![]() Brian |
