Article Marketing - General Help

I wonder if some kind warrior would answer the following question related to articles:

If I create my own article and publish the same on my blog, is it in order to also publish to article directories or would this be seen as duplicate content?

Thank you,

Martin

You will be fine. Just be sure to put the article on your blog first (and get it indexed) before submitting it elsewhere. Build your property before building the article directory.

      Thank you Doug/David,

I tried many keyword phrases in Google to find an answer, you've saved me a great deal of time and I am much obliged.

There are several similar discussions going on right now.

    I suggest:
Publish on your blog. Then everywhere else.

Duplicate content is a myth (case closed, not open for discussion, see the other threads on the main page).

Bonus tip: Write good, compelling content that webmasters are going to want to put on their web pages. Make it longer than average. Don't write a 300 word sales letter. The 300 word sales letter might get you short term clicks. The GOOD, longer article can get you LONG TERM clicks and backlinks all over the place through syndication. It can last for years.

Before someone comes in here and bashes you for not using the search function, let me post this: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...e-traffic.html

I used the warrior forum search button and searched for 'article.' When you see Alexa Smith's name, then you know you are reading the best info about article marketing. Her post is number 10, and she refers to another post that is also useful. The other posts in that thread also contain good info.

The search button is third from the right, up top, white letters on a red background, and is only visible when you are logged in.

      Thank you Diane,

I did try the search function with a number of long tail phrases!

The search function here is great for finding the general topic, but it is useless for showing you the "best" information.

But as Diane suggested, there are a few people whose names will trigger that "they know what they are talking about" feeling. Alexa Smith, Zues66 (John Schwartz), TimG, Steven Wagenheim, Dr. Mani, and others.

You will eventually get a feel for whose names need to be on that list.

If you are creating your own original articles, try also submitting them directly to targeted ezine publishers. They do pull articles from directories, but if you are a good writer they will publish your article and may even ask for more of the same. It's much faster than waiting for someone to pick up on your articles from the directories. These poor *******s are always looking for good content, and if you can save them some time, you'll get regular assignments.

This don't work too well if you're just writing 300 word articles for SEO or backlinks, though.

Absolutely. Ezine publishers are generally working within a template that needs 700-1200 words to work correctly.

I’ll look for targeted ezine publishers. Thank you for this information, myob. I write original articles and many people republish them, but now I won’t simply wait for them.

However, I don’t like the idea of writing articles that will be longer than 600 words, especially because most readers prefer only short and substantial articles.

Query some of the ezine publishers in your targeted niche. I think you will find that many of the better ones actually prefer articles of up to 1200 words. Get on with half of dozen or so of them as a regular contributor, then you will never again have to just "post and hope".

I would suggest posting your original articles on your blog first and then go and promote your articles via article directories. You should not have any problem with duplicate content penalty from Google. I am hearing a lot of IM saying that duplicate content is OK these days. I have seen some proof, but still not convinced on this. Hope this helps.

Duplicate Content Penalty is a myth. So is the Unique Content Penalty.

Content is king, good content that is. If you have done the front end work like keyword ect the articles will show well and drive links and traffic. however do your homework first.

    Hi Martin,

In addition to the helpful comments above, this fine thread contains quite a detailed discussion, in which many experienced, successful, professional article marketers explain why the answer's "yes: it is in order". It's a long but very worthwhile read - and you'll also find in there the answers to quite a lot of other, related questions.

I’ll do what you suggest. I even prefer writing longer articles because I can give more explanations to my readers. I started writing short articles only after understanding that most users prefer short ones. Now I have a reason to write very long ones again.
