How Many Productive Work Hours Per Day (At A Job Or In Your Business)

I read Brad Callen's story on his blog about how he got started in IM and it's pretty much exactly the same as Shoemoney (except he got fired). He says he had a job where he worked for 1 hour per day and just worked IM for the other 7 hours. The second job, he pretty much worked IM all day long until he quit. If you work at a corporate job or USED to work at a corporate job, how many hours were you actually working?

And if you're a full-time IM'er, how many hours are you working? Real, actual productive work. Not studying IM or reading forums about IM, but actually doing things that put money in your pocket (testing, analytics, product creation, etc).

Hey Dave...I curretly work in Chemical Sales....pretty decent job, but not what I want to do for the rest of my life..it pays the bills and allows me to eat out everyday, take a vacation or two, etc..

I find myself actually working on my sales job only 3 hours out of the 8 that I work a day...this includes typing emails, making calls, answering calls, etc...so they rest of the time I spend on the warrior forum, answering emails from my IM effrorts, researching, looking for new offline clients..I try to spend my time that is related to IM, on stuff that will actually help my business grow, etc.

My boss would kill me if he knew I was typing this right now ha!

But I have been hear 4 years and have done pretty well! It's really all about how you leverage your time and if you use your time effectively..you can balance both, but I hope to take my IM full time in the next 6 months....just my two cents!

There are 2 types of people in this world....those who get it and those who don't. The ones that get it know exactly what we are talking about. The ones who don't are left scratching their heads.

Yeah, I agree 100%. When I was in the corporate world, I knew people that did actually work 8 hours a day. But when you look at what they were doing, most of it was unnecessary.

The 80/20 rule applies. Of the things one does during the day at work, probably only 20% really matters. So those 20 percent produce 80 percent of your results. Identify and focus on those things
