You can always try the yahoo directory, that is as equally effective.

Don't even worry about it. dmoz iz corrupt from all the comments I've read lately, most people don't even bother with it, and I've never even applied. (That was a deliberate misspelling btw.) Don't even know if my sites are in it or not, but they are doing fine for their intended search terms.

They used to be a force, hundreds of internet years ago, but not even worth the time that it takes to apply right now.

Instead of worrying about it, start hunting for other high PR backlinks. DMOZ may be helpful, but it sure is not going to make or break your website.

The best way to check this out is to use a product like Market Samurai and check your competition. It is rare I see all ten first page listings with DMOZ and Yahoo listings. If all of the sites have them, then you will obviously need to beat them in other areas, which normally means greatly out performing them on backlinks in both number and QUALITY.

Its doubtful that you will rank with only a listing on dmoz anyway, I have never listed any of my websites on dmoz or yahoo directory have always ranked fine. Theres plenty of other ways to improve website rankings.

DMOZ is great, but believe me it's like buying a huge mansion - it's cool and all, but unnecessary.

I have a website in DMOZ - this was 2 years ago. It really did help it with rankings for a while, but it didn't stop the site getting manually stomped on by Google.

Try it, if it works great, if it doesn't then move on.

Whatever you do, don't pay to be in the Yahoo directory!
