Hey guys

As you can see from this thread title I am a newbie to the world of Internet Marketing. I have a lot of determination and I realize it takes a great deal of effort and hard work to be a successful internet marketer.

I created this thread to kindly ask, if there are any experienced Internet Marketers reading this right now, I'd be very grateful if you could give me a just few tips on what to focus on mostly when starting off in internet marketing.

I have a lot of great useful educational resources at my disposal that cover article marketing, PPC, Social Network etc.

I am using clickbank right now as an affiliate and Ive spent the last week or so educating myself about the above topics, including more.

But guys as I said, what should I focus on as a newbie? I realize I have to gain experience in order to build success. But if you could just give me a few helpful tips on the potential pitfalls and what works best like I said I'd be grateful.

Thank you, guys.

The biggest mistake I see people make can be summed up in three points:

    1. Those that "dabble"
    2. Those that try and shortcut the system and think they can get something for nothing and with no hard work.
    3. Those that buy every product they see thinking it will make the difference and catapult them for success.

If you get into this business and are serious about it, and you realize that true lasting success will take lots of hard work and effort, you will be ahead of many people out there. Do everything you can to avoid those three pitfalls above.

Checkout either: TiffanyDow.com/blog or MattsMarketingBlog.com. They've both got really good information.

The first thing you need to focus on is building a solid foundation for your business.

That starts with actually sitting down and mapping out what you actually want your business to look like. If you want to grow a business I can help. But if you are looking to make some quick cash I have nothing for you.

      Thanks guys.

I really appreciate the help/advice you have given me in this thread.

I am certainly aware that success in the world of internet marketing, or any other business for that matter, does not come overnight. I know a lot of people make a vital mistake of falling for fake promises and they get demoralized when they realize it requires more work then they imagined. I'm ready to work had though, definitely.

@genietoast many thanks for providing those links. I will be sure to look into that.

@Shannonn I hear you Shannonn. I am thinking long term, rather short term. I will maintain that attitude no matter what.

If you're thinking long term, then one thing you should concentrate on from the very beginning is list building - I know it may not sound like an appealing option especially to a newbie, but this is how you build a solid foundation that will provide you consistent income for a long time to come.

This is something that has to be done consistently and diligently, and you definitely won't see results immediately, but it will build up like a snowball if you give it enough time.

I would focus on focusing. Look at everything you're looking at, then drop everything except the one you're most interested in.

Don't read or buy anything except stuff that relates directly to that subject.

I agree w/ Curtis and Shannon. The quicker you get a grip on exactly what your goal is. What life you want to create, and what business you want to start, the better off you will be.

Focus on building a list. What does PPC, article marketing and social networking have in common? That is to bring traffic to your landing page. Now, what you need to do is turn these traffic into prospects where you can educate them about what you are promoting and of coz turn them into customers.

So for a starter, focus on building a list...Good luck!
