I am a newbie about FTPing. I use Smart FTP and have a question. If I enter the host which is the IP address I was given by the company who hosts my domains, how do the files go to the correct domain? There is nothing on the ftp site where you enter the domain.
I tried entering the web page as host and got the message
"Smart does not recognize the http protocol"
Thanks

... how do the files go to the correct domain?
The combination of your ip + your login name + passwords takes you to your domain root folder. So whatever you upload, they will end up on your web site.

enter ftp.yourdomain.com as host name instead of http if you have separate login details for each domain.

if all your domains are hosted on one hosting account then use the ip you were given to login and you should have all your domains as subdirectories within this account

sorry if i didn't get what you were trying to do.

Did your host provide an FTP server name?

      Normally it's "ftp.yourdomain . com"

Unless the host gives you a specific domain name for ftp.

Hey Cardsearch, Eric and seregap are right. You need to use ftp.yourdomain.com instead of http. Of course you will need your login and password to sign on to your account.
