How much time do you spend on twitter?

I mean twitter can be used just like a chat platform. When you actually engage in some conversations, it can take a lot of time.

Do you spend much time chatting with your followers on twitter?

As much as it takes. ;-)

It changes from day to day. Some days are very intense. Some
days are very light. It depends on my other priorities that day.

A quick estimate would be 15-20 minutes total per day.

I don't get it. I just don't. I mean I have tried, and there are millions of tools for this twitter thing, but I don't really understand why everyone thinks it's so great.

Depends on the day, but I think I probably average 20 minutes a day? I pop in and pop out a lot using tweetdeck.. watching the groups I'm interested in the most.

It's a good networking site especially when you want to drive more traffic to your site. Additional traffic to your site from whatever source it may be is still additional traffic and it is good for business.

I've been tracking an Affiliate Marketing guy who seems to be using Twitter with some impressive success. Rather than re-invent the wheel, I am "tempted" to emulate his business model. I am more than happy to share his codes - just ask.

Having been a person to follow success I noticed a number of the marketers such as john reese, frank kern and a few others use the site.

During the election NBC actually had an analyst reporting what people were tweeting about on the site regarding the election-WOW!!!

I honestly haven't been keeping up with twitter, I maybe post 1x a week and I only joined last week-LOL but will make more of a conscious effort to use the site.

    I hope that helps.

ten to 20 minutes a day, usually while waiting for something else to happen -- a site to upload etc.

Also just to take a break for a minute or two.

It's sort of an IM water cooler.

    Cheers

I spend like 15 to 30 minutes a day on twitter, checking out valuable tweets and following my followers. As for chatting, IM is my preferrence.

I'm kinda confused about the 'chatting' part of twitter.
I can see where I can direct message someone and have (and gotten help I needed that way)

But with dozens of followers and followees... how do I chat publicly?

I mean, when I Post, it's like a Digg Post... how does someone answer me?

are they posting to all of their followees as well as engaging me in conversation?

if so, is it sorta "intentional evesdropping", i.e.
we know everyone else can see what we say to each other but pretend to ingore that fact???

    or am I missing something.
    thanks

    Hey David,

When most people talk about conversations on Twitter they mean using the @ symbal. If you put @ before a username like @frederickwebpro that tweet is directed at that person and it shows up both in the public timeine of your followers, but also shows up in your @replies tab on the right side of your twitter page. If you click that tab you will see all your @replies of thos who directed a tweet directly to you.

In order to see them you need to have that set in your settings. I check it so it allows all @ messages, but you can allow only from followers or not at all as well.

So, if you want someone to see your tweet just put the @ symbal before their username and they will get it when they check their @replies even if they missed the tweet by you at the time it was posted. The other thing with @replies is that you don't have to both be following each other to converse like with direct messages

    Hope that helps a little.

I probably spend around 20 minutes or so throughout each day checking in to see what is new. I have also subscribed to TweetLater so that I do not miss any replies directed to me. That way, I can respond to anything relevant. If I update my blogs or have something interesting to share, then I do.

I don't like to chat with friends via twitter.
One some pm me in twitter, I always tell them to contact me via IM.
However, twitter is a useful place to public messages.

I use the twitterfox plugin on firefox so dont actually go onto the twitter site now, if i want to tweet the plugin has a little box pop up to do it in and it also shows tweets as they come, saves a lot of time.
