What to Look for in a Clickbank Product?

I know that some of you here on WF probably make a full time income just promoting others products through Clickbank.
Considering doing this myself to gain the experience for some of my other ventures.
What is s good criteria to gauge a product to promote?
Gravity?
Refund rate?
% of sale?
Search Volume?
Competition?
And any others that I may be missing.

I have found a product in Health and Fitness that has a search volume over 22,000 and very low competition when using Google Keyword Tool but the gravity is 0.32 . Is this too low of a gravity or could it be that I found a viable product to promote?

    Hopefully Alexa comments on this thread because she made a post about it somewhere. I don't know exactly where it is sorry

    Anyway the only things that you really need to look at are the conversion rate and the refund rate. Although these things are tough to figure out, they are the most crucial. You need to look for a product that has a high conversion rate with low refunds.

    You can do this by reading over the sales copy and seeing if it would convince you to purchase the product. I would also recommend getting in touch with the product owner. He/she might be able to offer you a free copy of the product as long you let him/her know that you want to be an affiliate. The creator can also help you with any information that you are looking for.

    I have been around here a couple of years and have seen Alexa surfing around. Didnt realize that she was a CB queen but I will watch out for her. Maybe she will appear.

    This gives some good food for thought. The sales presentation is a bit long for my liking but it has a lot of good info there. I'm just wondering if this will push away sales ?

    I focus most of my efforts into evaluating the sales page and looking for back-end sales opportunities/recurring profits.

    Personally, I tend to look for low gravity offers whenever possible, but I am probably the exception rather than the rule.

    Also, if the product has been up for more than a few months, I try to contact the owner just to see what's up (new promo materials, upcoming launches, etc)

    Who cares what the gravity is? That number is the most bogus number ever created. It means little to nothing, and was created to generate interest. If the sales page does a good job, a low gravity such as that only means that you will not have a whole lot of competition in selling that product.

    I think your most important item you are looking for is a good sales page, that does not have a bunch of holes where you lose your visitor to the vendor, such as free reports for an email address.

    I always look for a gravity of at least 20 just so that I know there is some life in the product and I'm not flogging a dead horse. I agree gravity is quite ambiguous but at least you know there is activty occurring.

      Grab a domain, set up a wordpress site and promote. I will use this to build a list that I can promote other products to in the health niche (baby boomers) since I am on the tail end of them (baby boomers) I kinda understand the mentality.

    Nobody's mentioned it in this thread yet, but the most important thing when looking for a product (CB or not) to promote should be...

    ...how good the product actually is!

      Got a lot of video testimonials on the sales page. I personally have not tried it.

        A few people mentioned that you look for good sales copy. Let me expand on that a bit. Does the headline grab your attention? Are the major components above the fold (the top half of the page the visitor sees without scrolling down)? For eg: opt in, sales video, testimonial, etc.

        Does the sales copy talk more about benefits than it does features? You've already chosen a good niche. I'd stay away from the "make money" niche. Too many refunds, too much competition & commission theft. The hobby niche works well with baby boomers also.

          If I was Googling looking for a solution for this and came across this ad yes it would grab my attention.

          Yes the headline would grab my attention.

          The major components are on the top half of what the visitor sees but the six testimonial vids are a ways down on the page.

          The sales copy starts out asking if you suffer from these problems then quickly goes into what you can expect from ebook.

          This has nothing to do with Hobby niche. It is more in line with a Womans need to look younger and firmer.

          I think that when a Woman has a need to feel better about her looks and you can help meet that need that its a winning situation.

    I have got two CB products now that I am having sites built for.
    I have dug back to find something that to me seems off the wall and not something that I would of thought that it would have a market until I did some research to see that they had a decent search volume with almost no competition so it should be easy to get 1st page Google.
    Trial and error is the best teacher but it helps having advice from warriors that have done it.

    Doug, Thanks for the links !

    Chris, Glad you mentioned sending targeted traffic. Just having a website out there is not going to achieve this I know. I will ad articles at a snails pace as well as have a few PR's done.

    Keyword research is also a major contributor to targeted traffic regarding "Is it a buyers keyword or a tire kickers keyword"

    Gravity isn't important. The thing to look for a good professional looking sales page with preferably with no opt-in form or heaven forbid Adsense ads.
