Newbie question on increasing site visibility

Newbie here. Have read forum many times but never had courage to post till now. Have created a blog about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I am looking for ways to promote it. Have found for instance liquida.com and zimbio.com that seem to fetch RSS from your site and post it in their portal. Has anyone used them before? Do they help out increasing indexing by search engines and at same time provide valuable back links to your money site? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Welcome!!

Any good backlink helps with your google ranking. If I were you, I would syndicate your content on many article directories that are highly regarded by google such as buzzle, ezinearticles, goarticles and so on and put a link back to your site and internal pages. as for the rss, you can find many good submitters, there should be some good posts about that in the forum.

    cheers!

Thanks for the help. As for the syndicated content shall it be spinned or can it be a copy from what I currently have in blog?
Do you recommend any good rss submiter?

      Kaloksi,

Just a quick addition to this, Buzzle does actually state in it's terms and conditions that it requires completely unique content, it's one of the only article directories that does this.

Though not article directories, Hubpages and Squidoo pages also require original content, which is another reason I rarely use them now.

As to how valuable those backlinks are is debatable, they will help the site get indexed though. Remember, just because, say, Ezine articles is a PR6 site doesn't mean where your article is has any PR at all. The PR6 refers to the home page only and your article won't be there.

I tend to find authority sites in my niche, contact them, befriend them and offer them my content, that way I get links from niche relevant sites, often with high PR's, sometimes on the homepage and with a lot of interested readers that then visit my site.

I've often heard the phrase "Find a hungry crowd". This is why article syndication to high authority sites in your niche can be so rewarding.

Rss directories can be a great way to build links. The directories may not bring your site much traffic over all but it will help in the eyes of the serps. Also if you are posting on a regular basis it is a great way to get the word out about your new content. If you want a couple of others like this try out blogcatalog. It is one of the larger ones and it has actually brought me alot of traffic over the years.
