Question about opt-in follow up emails (+ Wordpress)

I just got G-Lock plugin up and running for wordpress.

I notice there doesn't seems to be any automatic follow up email system (except for the welcome email/unsubscribe etc.). Is this generally the case?

I.e. do you have to submit emails by hand every X amount of days or are there additional plugins that could automate that for me too?

The most reliable follow-up solution is autoresponder like Aweber or Getresponse.
Any plugin that works from wordpress will fail sooner or later. I speak from experience.

    Fail how?

I have been advised that it's imperative I pay for one of those two but I'm already on 25pounds per week deficit . Is there not a free solution? I've been told that I'll be screwing myself over by going for a free one but another monthly fee is really not too palatable right now...

Try to stay away from the free autoresponder solutions, because they typically have limitations and you'll end up losing subscribers when you inevitably switch over to a paid autoresponder. I know this is not what you're hoping to hear, but it is the truth.

You can look into Mailchimp. They've just added an auto responder to their free service.

The only problem is, at some point, you'll probably want to go with a more robust autoresponder. You'd have to import your list (and make them opt-in again) under the new service.

If you are serious about wanting to make money online you need to invest in the right tools from the start. Don't muck around with any other autoresponder other than Aweber. Anything else that is free or cheap will give you problems once you start to build a list.
