A lot of people don't know how to do basic SEO and how to best organise a sites structure. The advantage of using Wordpress is it's fairly SEO friendly right out of the box. There are some plugins you can use to improve things even further (eg: All In One SEO) but as a publishing platform for beginners, it is definitely the easiest way to go.

Most beginners would never have heard of things like meta tags, h1 tags, h2 tags, image alt tags, and so on. All these things are important for on page SEO.

It doesn't means Word press is best all CMS are tuned to support search engines in best way it is that how we place our content of our web site

  Wordpress' high-traffic directory, popular tags are often listed in organic search results of Google & Yahoo! linking to the most recent/popular blogs using that tag. Wordpress blog posts also tend to show up separately in organic search results more readily than Blogger or any other blogging platform.
  As what schttrj said, blogger/blogspot is also good.

It is true indeed. WP is highly SEO-friendly platform. Especially if you install any SEO plugin like WP-SEO by Yoast.

It can be. Just look up information on SEO'ing WordPress for the best results.

Once you have set your blog up in the appropriate manner, then your content will need to deliver.

Imho when it comes to SEO, it does not matter which platform you use
as long as you know what you are doing. The search engines do not have
any preference of WordPress over Blogger or any other platforms for that matter.
Having said that, WordPress does have its advantages such as the availability
of many useful plug-ins.

i cannot completely agree to it...however, itz true that wordpress comes with a lot many more seo friendly features...but blogger and other blogging platfoams are also considerable...
