Category Specific Widget??

INTERNET MARKETING

I was wondering if anybody has heard of or if you know of a Wordpress plug in or widget that will allow me to display a text widget for independent categorizes.

Ok, I think I just confused myself, let me try this...

Let's say you have a blog that covers more then one talking point, lets say you blog about online marketing and gardening (polar opposites) is there a way, or some widget/plug-in that will allow me to show a text widget for specific categories.

So for example...

When someone lands on a gardening post, the widget will display my gardening widget, and when someone else lands on my online marketing posts it will display my online marketing widget and NOT the gardening widget.

I hope I made some sense, if not just tell me to re-explain...

So nobody knows if this is possible, hell at least say that I could create my own plug-in, this might be a good idea...

There is a plugin that allows you to assign widgets to specific pages like you're asking but I don't remember if that included separate category pages. Also, I don't remember what it's called but you can find it over at the wordpress plugin repository.

Widget Logic - that's the name of the plugin. You need to be a bit familiar with the Conditional Tags of WordPress.

Depending on which page (not Page but webpage!) we are talking about, e.g. single post or a category archive... you will need
in_category()
or
is_category()

I usually just create custom category pages but that's not the same as a widget so I'm not sure if it helps.
