1 Article = 1 Conversion Per Month?

As the title suggests, I am wondering if it would be "ok" to assume that one very well written and targeted article on the front page of Google can lead to at least 1 sale per month...

I am looking for answers from people with experience on the subject, not guesses.

Thanks.

James Harrison.

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees when it comes to internet marketing or business of any kind.

Remember: If it was easy, then everyone would be doing it, and there would be no money in it.

Also, you need to understand that the spot your article has on the first page of the SERPS is important. The top three listings for a keyword get at least 60% of all traffic for that keyword.

Additionally, you have to keep in mind that most people that click on your article won't read the whole thing, let alone follow your link back to your site, let alone think about buying your product, let alone buy your product.

Everything depends on your niche. Some niches are easier to get converting traffic for. Others are harder.

So, to be blunt, it is not true that if you have an article on the 1st page of the SERPS, you can expect one sale a month.

    You can't "expect" anything.

It's true that there are no guarantees, even on the first page top three listings. The key here is exposure, and relying on a single article may be a bit limiting. One strategy I use for lead generation is to have several articles ranking for related keywords, and all links going to a single lead capture page. That usually gets a small and steady stream of leads onto my list. Lead to sale conversion is about 3-5% in my niche, hence the multiple articles. However, a single sale can bring in thousands of dollars, so the low conversions are worth waiting for!

One tutorial by an article marketing 'expert' estimated that on average each article used in association with an effective sales page is worth $5 per month, but noted a few advanced marketings manage to earn $20 per article per month.

Thanks for the input. I plan on doing AT LEAST 1 article per day, but probably more because I have lots of time on my hands... If I can get $10 on average from each article every month then that would be amazing... But that seems a bit to good to be true... We'll see, I r gud writer :p

To answer your question accurately, we'd need to know how many people are searching for your key phrase, what position your article places, and just as importantly does your keyword/keyphrase have commercial intent?

A well-written article that ranks on the first page for a highly competitive keyword with high commercial intent could make a lot more than 1 sale a month.

My first money was made using that technique actually. I wrote 4 articles then linked them like crazy so they showed up on the first page of google for their keyword. 2 of them made absolutely no money. One article made a sale or two a month, but the other article made 6 sales a month on average over several months.

      I hope that helps.

I would be hoping for a lot more than 1 sale per article per month. It all comes down to the tactics you use. If you just post one article to a couple of article directories then yes, I wouldn't expect too much from it. But one article can easily become...

    - one video for uploading to all the video sharing sites
    - one audio for uploading to all the podcasting sites
    - one short ebook for uploading to all the ebook sites
    - one powerpoint for uploading to slide sharing sites
    - one document for uploading to all the document sharing sites

and most importantly, that one article should be indexed on YOUR site before you are posting it anywhere else. Your results will also have a lot to do with the type of preselling you do.

This is solid advice. I would go further by saying that when you sit down to do an article, it's just as easy to pound out 5 while you're at it. Then you have 5x the content.

I literally just finished writing my five articles for the day and it took me 53 minutes. One was 500 words and the other four were each between 250-300 words. But... I write all at once and then I edit so the process does take longer than just an hour usually.

Yes, there are lots of factors dependent on the outcome of your articles such as keyword search numbers and how commercial your keywords are and of cours,e how well the actual product converts.

Make sure your articles are full of information related to your niche not just a quickie 300 word job. I find that my longer, more in-depth articles prove to be more successful in terms of conversions. It's also not so much about how many people are viewing your article but how far on in the buying stage they are, so it's a good idea to do effective keyword research in this area first.

Some of my articles that I submitted to article directories such as Ezine and articlesbase a few years ago, still bring in business every month.

    All the best

"The front page of Google" must be put in relation to something. Without more specifics on the keywords you're targeting, it will be impossible for anyone to give you an educated guess.

Why are you focusing on Google?

Don't you know what article syndication is?(Do a search on it) You will make way more than 1 sale a month, the reward/work ratio is exponentially greater than you will ever achieve ranking on Google, not to mention faster results, far superior targetted readers, and you will be generating longterm income, not short(Assuming you ever actually reach top spot on Google)

SEO is a losing game in the long run.

You know what, you can make however much you want to make.

You just have to keep doing things in order to accomplish your goals. Thats all. If you want one conversion, don't let one article limit you... write 5.... then 5 more... then 50. Dominate your niche... make some money! Put effort into it.
