Default I just made my first $3!

Read the little story below. I'll explain the post title in just
a moment...

I set up yet another "cash machine" in my virtual backyard.
I'll be pulling $100 bills out of this ATM although it's going
to take about 1-2 years.

Yes, you read that right. 1-2 years.

Here's what I am doing...

1. Set up a blog in a solid niche.
2. Configure the blog for SEO.
3. Publish high quality content like crazy.
4. Monetize with Adsense and Clickbank.

Since November I've posted over 60 blog entries. I'd say
about 40 of them are really good. The other 20+ are kind
of "junk" but they hit long tail keywords I'm targeting.

I'm outsourcing a lot of the article writing although I add
my own images, links, tags, and formatting.

I've been doing this since November and it's been brutal.
Being in the trenches sloggin' it out is tough work.

...but it pays off in the long run. I've done the numbers
on this niche and the model I'm using will throw off cash.
It'll be especially nice once I get the autoresponder set
up. I'm a little behind.

Here's my first point in telling this little story. Doing this
kind of work keeps me fresh. It forces me to re-evaluate
how work gets done. It forces me to think about doing
a better job outsourcing. Really, I know that I should not
be doing this work. It's not below me but my time is not
being well spent.

My second point is that I will be able to sell my knowledge
to others. That is, I've already learned 4-5 critical lessons
due to this specific effort. So, when you are working in
the weeds take notes and find shortcuts. Sell those tips
and tricks and multiply your wealth -- it's only a little bit
more work and the returns are substantial.

So, how much have I made with this new blog? I've made
"only" $3 this month. I did not make ANY money from the
blog in November, despite my efforts...

I expect to hit probably $10-15 in December. I'll add more
content and make more tweaks. I'll then outsource the
updates to my site. This attention and this focus will pay
off...

In 1-2 years I'll have a "cash machine" throwing off $100
bills each and every month for less than 1 hour of work
to monitor.

Brutal to get there? Yes.

Stupid and wasteful effort? Sure, it seems like it right now.
But it does pay off and my first $3 makes the future very
clear to me.

By the way, I hope you see that I'm not doing anything
special here. It's just a matter of focus, effort, and a true
belief that the money will flow. It does; it will.

~ John

p.s. Some Warriors might giggle at my posting above. They
know that I make well over $10K per month. But a portion
of my monthly earnings is from this in-the-weeds, get-my-
hands-dirty approach. I like autopilot. I like residual. It
doesn't start that way, but it gets there. I know it so I do
the work and don't complain. And I don't look back.

Hi John - hope you live long enough to reap the really big rewards!

However, as long as you're enjoying it and it "keeps me fresh" then carry on.

John, this is exactly the kind of nickel and dime stuff I do on a regular basis.

If people knew how many blogs I had out there in some of the craziest
niches, they'd laugh.

But you know what? A $1 a day here and $2 a day there, and it all adds up.
That's why I always keep my eye out for Hot Trends because you never
know when you're going to find a gold mine.

This Plaxico Burress fiasco has been a perfect example. I'm getting a steady
stream of traffic to my blog each day that I update it.

I don't know how long it'll last, but for now, he's pretty much one of the
hottest items in the news.

sorry to say but in 2 years the google algorithm may change and your blogs will end up nowhere to be found. i wouldn't plan that far ahead to profit on something that is based on CURRENT seo techniques that may and will change.
i'd rather concentrate on making money off your articles now but always keeping in mind that these may be worthless tomorrow.
but hey, you never know...

60 blogs for $3? That was amazing, lol. Ive been doing reviews lately and ive made $10 for my 3 reviews in just 3 days. Quite good compare to 3$ of 60 blogs.

That's 60 blog entries. I also think that he is not adding value to somebody else's site with his work.

Whe you add the huge number of blogs in the different niches, the amount of money made will be significant..

1 blog = $3 per month
100 blogs = $300 per month

Once he hits $100 per month per blog:

100 blogs = $10,000 per month!

Wow! Thats huge money..

I rarely use "current" or "fad" SEO tactics. I stick to the
basics like proper keyword use, smart titles, good linking,
and the like.

More importantly, I generate and utilize great content.
Not always of course, but it's what I try to do always.
Good content in the right niches is evergreen. Google
isn't even relevant because *something* will be linking
into my blog entries, content, niche sites, and so on.

I am inspired by your story! I'm kind of at the beginning stages with a couple of blogs. I wanted to ask you how long do you plan to continue to add content - or a significant amount of content to your blog? And are you also submitting articles to article directories or are you getting your links another way?

Hope you don't mind the questions...

Good questions.

1. I'll keep adding content until I've exhausted all keywords that
pay me a decent return. If the margins go down, I'll start another
site that has a higher ROI.

2. I am using article directories and article submission services.
However, that is only pushing a small amount of traffic. I'm
getting more by setting up backlinks, using social media, and
using RSS tactics. I have also used our service (Traffic Drill)
to assist a little. I'm as aggressive about generating traffic as
I am about posting new content.

I don't mind questions. Keep them coming if you have more.

Hello Omari Taylor here,

Great post John. A lot of people are not willing to do what you are doing and that is why most people online are failing because they are not willing to put in the time and effort. Many people use paid advertising to get results but as soon as the money stops coming so does thier traffic.

I blog and write articles also and get great results, so I totally understand your way of thinking. These marketing methods have been around forever and will always work and never die out. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress.

Your story is truly inspiring, I also thinking about setting up lots of blogs but didn't sure how to manage all of them. But still want to keep some blogs as quality blogs.

So after a while - several months maybe - how many posts do you plan to do on each blog you have?

Hey John-

If you post a mailing address I'll send you a box of hand wipes for Christmas to get rid of some of that dirt! Just make sure you get under your fingernails too. Hard work has a habit of sticking around for a long time...

The other thing you might want to mention is the potential for BACK-END sales on your work. Even though your blog isn't generating a gazillion dollars on the front end, the highly targeted traffic you're getting for free has the potential to make a truckload in repeat sales w/ higher product price points over and over again.

Just my crazy two cents.

Warm holiday wishes for all.

Hi John,
You have taking the words right out of my mouth. Your approach is almost identical to mind. I have a 3 year plan with ALL my Blogs where fresh, relevant content will be posted each and every week for years to come. Doing this consistently with Backlinks in place and Aging Domains, I look to be pulling in a significant amount in a few years. Right now its tough seeing only $50 or $60 a month but it has steadily increased the last 8 months.

Make NO mistake about fresh, new and relevant content will NEVER go out of Googles Algorithms. And the Authority given with the Aging of a Domain will NEVER go out of style with Google either.

Let the Article Marketers do what they love doing. I say more power to them. Meanwhile John, keep up the good work and I will be right along side you tediously and with much self gratification posting letter by letter fresh, unique content on my Blogs every Monday and Thursday for many, many years to come Cheers to you as we both build with much sweat towards MASSIVE, PASSIVE Income with Adsense and Affiliate Products.

4 Years to build and the rest of your life to manage.

I can understand the appeal of this technique because its relatively easy to build a site that makes a few bucks. Personally though I focus on a few big earners and cull the dead weight. 80/20 and all that.

But hey, different strokes for different folks

The best thing to do is after setting up sites like that so that they are making consistent money is to flip them for 8 to 12 times their monthly income. This is great for some fast cash, and can be pretty profitable.
