It depends on what kind of sites are being advertised on your website. If those other sites are good quality sites, and if they are relevant to the topic of your website, then they could add value rather than devalue. Of course, since the link is from your site to their site, I do not see the links bringing traffic to your site.

I would think not, If people know they can advertise their own webiste on yours, it will quickly become a spamming zone and nobody wants that. I would let people sent you a personal mail and you could choose which websites to advertise

It is no different than the many other millions of portals and directories.

The main difference is that you will find it almost impossible to generate revenue and you will spend all of your time removing spammers, scammers and rubbish.

It will be so full of dregs genuine advertisers won't touch you with a barge pole.

Harsh words I know, but I've been there, done that and have several T-shirts!!

      I hope this helps

Well as far as bringing traffic to your site is concerned, you can forget about that. There is no way an advertisement of a blog or website place on your site will bring you traffic. Except you are in for ad swap.

But nevertheless, on the second aspect on whether it will devalue your site, just as the other person have already pointed out, it could actually add value to your site but that all depends.

As long as you dont open up a million ad spaces for people to advertise under, then i would say go for it! You get paid, and i dont think it would harm your traffic/sales of your own products. Its more a risk for them than you. Just my opinion though

It depends if you ask money for the people advertising on your site. Then it makes you money regardles of your own offer(s).

It would be nice if it works together with your own product, but should not be the same product of course.

It will not help you anyway in traffic to your site as no advertiser will sent traffic to your site, they want to have traffic to their site and use the ad on your site to do so. Make sure that your content is great and you will keep the most of your visitors on your site and your site is a good choiche for advertiser to put there ad on when you have a fair or (very) good amount of visitors.

        Hello,

Does you site already get traffic? If so...why would you want to place ads to other sites unless you are in some way getting paid...?

Adding ads will not bring traffic to you it will only divert some of the traffic you are getting to the advertisers site.

If I place ads or banners on my sites they are usually to an offer I get an affiliate commission for.

They are very relevant to the content on the page and are of excellent quality for the visitor.

I don't think the ads on your site would affect your site's traffic, so don't worry about that.

Are you talking about "paid" advertisements - as in $x per month to place a banner ad on your page? If so, it won't drive more traffic to your blog but it will earn you some additional income. I'd just make sure that the websites you allow to pay for advertising are not direct competition.
