Attention, full-time Affiliate Marketers

Hi folks. We don't really do much in the way of Affiliate Marketing here at Carlsearch. But, we currently have a client searching for some information on the topic. We are in the process of helping him redo his site, and he wants to include some affiliate product links in his blog. What he wants to know is this: (assuming proper regular action is taken of course), what are realistic revenue expectations from this type of marketing (others' products)?

To provide some detail, his niche will be hunting products, duck blind plans, tree stand plans, hunting strategies, etc.

His site will be a blog about hunt clubs and related topics, trophy pictures from members, and a message board.

Could any of you provide us with realistic income expectations that we can pass along to him? And, would you mind being quoted as a reference source on this topic?

Success stories are welcome, but we are seeking realistic data.

We've got no problems with setting up his site, performing SEO, and even helping him find some good products to promote, but we don't have too many answers about realistic income expectations since this is something we aren't really involved in ourselves.

Any help is appreciated.

there is no magic formula, just a spreadsheet with a lot of assumptions.
    1) How much traffic will his blog get? (can you get him to the top of page one for relevant keywords ? use GKT to estimate traffic.

    2) How well can his "copy" convert the traffic to sales. Pick a best case/worse case and multiply by traffic number and his affilliate commission.

Just crunching through this "simple" formula can help set realistic expectations.

In general (and this is a major assumption) but he will likely get a commission on 1 in 100 people sent to an offer. So how many can they send? I usually figure a per visitor breakdown to estimate income. Like if you make say $100 per 100 visitors sent then that is $1/visitor. Again, this is major assumption but will give u a basis to start.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.
