Hello Fellow Warriors,

I have a question pertaining to Joomla..I had a custom site created on the Joomla platform and im wondering if there is any way to convert the site into a download directory for free content, protected by a membership plugin? I also have WP WishList, but i cant see wasting the money i paid for the joomla site if i can get it to work as needed.

Any help or information, suggestions or otherwise would be greatly appreciated as im lost at this point!:confused:

If you need full membership instead of just managed download, try this:

This is very easy to do WITHOUT an additional plug in.

You just create user menu items that they can not view unless they are registered! Simple as that, you don't need a single line of code to be able to do that.

Don't move to Wordpress if you want to be able to take advantage of the multitude of Joomla extensions down the road... You can simply add a download component to your existing Joomla site. I have used the Docman component in the past with good results, they have a paid version and a free version.

docman is one of the traditional file download systems, there are some newer ones.

i recommend you to choose the paid membership component first, most will have connections to download components, or their own.

the membership with more history is AEC, but there are a couple that seem to work better by now. I used it some time ago for 4 or 5 sites, not a problem. But it is not out of the box.

I used a couple of others for some projects, but they are not being continued right now.

if you want to work with professionals, look into Ambra. I used Discouri stuff and the guys are pretty good. And they have different scripts that work together nicely.
