PPC Google & facebook, should a newbie try this?

I found a coupon code for $50 on Facebook, and I also have both a $75 and $100 google coupon codes both for ads. I wanted to wait to use googles PPC because I am still new at this and I thought that I should wait until my site starts getting regular traffic first.
Would PPc on both facebook and google bring in a steady stream of people if I started now? WOuld I have to keep buying PPC credits or would my coupons be enough to help me build a list and get regular viewers? I heard PPC was hard to figure out at first b/c of all the keywords and stuff, so I would like some input before i go off and waste my coupons.

If you are a newbie with advertising then I suggest that you hang on to those coupons (given that they don't expire) until you learn a little more about Adwords and Facebook ads. Otherwise you can burn through those credits real quick, get irrelevant traffic, and not make a sale.

You can experiment and learn that way too.. but I would highly recommend that you learn more about it before spending the money. Adwords and Facebook ads can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing.

    Hope this helps!

The real reason that coupons are available is that the companies are betting based on previous experience, that you are going to spend a lot more with them. It is not because they are trying to be nice to you.

If you do not know anything about PPC advertising, I strongly suggest that you find out more about how it works either by reading through the forum here or buying a course that will teach you.

The short answer is no, neither of those coupons is enough to get a sustainable buisness going.

wait so an entire $50 or even $100 dollars wont get me a fair amount of traffic? Will it allow me to build even a small list like 100 people? I have 0 subscribers so I want to start to build a list. How much does a typical PPC campaign cost?

No, chances are you will use 10X that amount until you find out what works and what don't. There is bidding involved with PPC, depending on the keywords it could range from 30 cents - $100 a click (for something like DWI lawyer). Lets say you can get 50 cent clicks, then do the math how much traffic it will buy.

Now you can also pay per thousand impressions, but again it takes practice to know what path to take.

If you use PPC be ready to lose some money. People do allocate $25-$50 to test a campaign, however.

Then again if you get lucky......

PPC campaigns don't work like that. There are no typical numbers about PPC campaigns. This is one of those things that is hugely dependent on the niche or market you are in.

It depends on where you put your ads. It depends on what countries you wnat your ads displayed in. It depends on what your offer is when they get to your site. It depends on what your site is thought of by the Adwords computer and real time viewers.

This can work really well for building a list, but it is going to take more money than the coupon is worth.

With FB, just go to your page and look at the ads on it. Click some of the ads and see if your site looks like they do. If it does, you might be able to compete there, but you are still going to need more money than the coupn value.

All above me is spot on advice.

        I would listen.

I almost lost my shirt trying ppc, too early, a few years ago.

And I can guarantee, you will spend more than that (what they gave you)
Like Z said that's exactly what they are betting on.

Find a forum with computer newbies and contribute to the discussion. Put your forum in the sig. I post to a few car forums and they have a dedicated sub-forum for PCs. You are better off doing that than PPC.

oh, I thought it was like 0.02 - 0.05 cents a click, like advertised.
And yea, I am not lucky so chances are I won't get anything without hard work :-(
heh, my field (computer tech) is pretty competitive. So I guess it won't be 0.02 a click.

Thanks. Driving traffic to my site to build a list and get regular viewers is harder than I thought it would be. I don't have a single subscriber yet. I guess I will wait until I can run an actual PPC campaign to use the coupons.

No problem. I would be the last person on earth to tell somebody not to try something to help their business. But I think you might have more success if you have some money in the bank that you can spend on a PPC campaign.

Lots of people do it this way, but it costs them a lot of money to do it.

They calculate over time that they will get the money back through people purchasing from them. But the only way they know that is by doing a bunch of campaigns and seeing which ones work and which ones wind up losing them money. And then paying for more ads and clicks like the ones that made them a profit.
