If you can't get into your router the best bet would be to reset it back to factory settings, which will reset the password as well back to default. If you still have the manual it should tell you how to do it. If not, call the manufacturer's customer service number. They can tell you how. I don't know of any way to "hack" the router to retrieve the password.

*hint: often router manufacturers will set the default login as:

    username: admin
    password: password

After resetting your router try that if the manual or customer service doesn't tell you how.

    open your browser...
type in 192.168.1.1 and press enter
when prompted for login and pass try

    id:admin
    pass:admin

    id:admin
    pass: password

Whichever works and i guess go to security options and i guess you'll have a place where you can see the password or change it...

    Hope this helps

You COULD go and ask this on a wireless network router forum

But resetting should definitely do it - push a paperclip in the little hole designed for that purpose. This WILL reset your password. And you can find the default password often printed on the actual router, or find it on the net. I doubt you will succeed in hacking it, that's kind of the point of the router.

Sheesh, do Internet marketers have to be experts at everything, or what?

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

Actually the default WEP key (wifi security key) is normally printed on the router, but I've never seen the administrator password printed on it. That would make it too easy for someone to have complete access after a quick glance at your router.

Nope, other way round here - I have the default router password:

        Username: <blank>
        Password: admin

        (LinkSys)

Sure, someone could come along, stick a pin to reset and then gain access easily, but I guess for home use this makes sense, I mean, I don't leave my router out on the street!

Anyway, that's what the OP gets for asking the question on the wrong forum! Confusion and disinformation!

Strange. My router only has the WEP key on the sticker on the bottom. No login details. Guess it depends on the manufacturer.
