Paypay Dispute BS (What now?)
I purchased some software last night from an affiliate vendor. The transaction was through 2Checkout (2co.com) and payment was completed with paypal.
Initially, the download link only gave me a 199 byte file. Obviously not the software I had purchased...WTF!
I immediately contacted the seller, and to his credit, he contacted me fairly quickly. He provided a link from which I was finally able to download the software. All was well....or so I thought.
Upon installation of the software, the final step was activation. This was accomplished with "White Knight Protector" which is apparently some kind of product protection software. The activation screen stated that I needed to be connected to the internet to complete installation.
I clicked on the activation link and was taken to a page telling me that "the "White Knight Protector" account is no longer active, please contact whoever you bought the software from"
You can guess the rest....no response from the seller.
Well....now the rest of the story.
After SEVERAL ignored emails, I decided to file a Paypal dispute. It seemed simple enough. The paypal dispute process leads you through pages of checkboxes that I suppose they figure covers every transaction possible under the sun. I ended up describing my transaction (with checkboxes) as having received my item (I did get the download), but it did not work. I also described (with checkboxes) that I suspected the item to be pirated software.
I clicked the "File a Claim" button, only to be taken immideately to a page telling me I'm SOL because "I received my item" and that circumstance is not covered under Paypal protection policy, and to take it up with the seller.
This is obviously not an accurate description of my screwing, so now the ultimate purpose of this rant.
Who the hell do I call, and what is the number of this person, to get this dispute properly explained and re-opened?
Or am I just screwed?
