Article Marketing Questions - Kindly Help

Hi,

I have tried out almost all methods of marketing but never payed much attention to article marketing, i guess i was just lazy. :p Anyways i was seeing a sudden rise of topics related to article marketing in the forum and after reading a couple of thread's i have decided i'll try it out.

I can write pretty decently, i just submitted my very first article to ezine article's (niche research has already been taken care of and i have also done elaborate keyword research) I guess ezine article "reviews" your articles before they publish it on their site.

So here are a few questions that i have.

1) i had seen a post about how you can publish articles on your own site as well as on EZA, Now does my site has to have articles...I mean can it just be a simple "landing page" style site or do i have to compulsorily fill it up with content too.

2) how many articles before i start seeing consistent traffic( All my articles will be well researched and hand written and will have good keyword density)

3)if you have done article marketing yourself...could you please tell me the number of articles i should post per day.

Thank you for all your help in advance

    They do, yes.

They want to check (a) that it complies with their editorial guidelines, and (b) that it hasn't previously been published under another name (which might raise the possibility that the person who submitted it doesn't own the rights to it).

It depends what sort of site you want.

It's not compulsory to have articles.

But if you're writing/buying them anyway, and submitting them to EZA, it would be a bit short-sighted not to put them on your own site first and get them indexed there. Even if it's primarily for search-engines to see: the long-term SEO benefits can be enormous.

That depends on the niche, and on some other considerations, and it's difficult for anyone to give an accurate answer without knowing a lot more information.

I now submit, on average, a little bit less than one per day ... 5 or 6 per week. But mine are long articles written for syndication rather than just for quick traffic, and they end up being republished (from EZA) on all sorts of other sites that give me far better-targeted traffic and better quality backlinks than article directories do.

rammonster... read some of Alexa's threads or replies concerning different questions that you might have about article marketing. She is one of the people that I respect the most in IM in general and when it concerns article marketing in particular. This isn't a "kiss up" or anything. She lives very far away and is a bit too young for me

On a side note though, Alexa? How many subscribers do you have on your various EZA accounts? For those that aren't sure what I'm asking, people can subscribe to various author accounts or pen names that you might have and receive, I believe, notification or copies of articles once you publish them.

Although I think that most of my articles just get snagged here and there for syndication I do have a few people that subscribe to my accounts.

I like Alexa's writing and opinions. I am kind of curious as to what questions do you think I might have.

No worries. I always have questions. Probably more than anyone I have ever met. In school as a student and even as a teacher, I always had questions. Usually way more than anyone wanted to answer.

Just thought I was missing something in my post.

Alexa, would you mind clarifying "long articles?" Are you talking 1,000 words? 1500 words? More? Less?

Mine usually range between 450-700. I try to give more information than you'll read in the average "trying to get quick traffic" articles, but I'm thinking mine must be shorter than yours.

Does the republishing directly drive more sales from the sites that publish your article, or do you just find that it's better for backlinks as you mentioned?

      Thanks.

Most of your questions don't have any definite answers.

Do you need a site with content. No. Will it help your site to have content, yes.

There is no one answer to how many articles you will have to write before you get consistent traffic. It depends on if you write about things people care about and if you write in a way that gets people to click through. You won't know how many articles it takes until you do it.

Keyword density used to be an idea that people paid attention to. The search engines are now for the most part more sensitive to related words and synonyms. EZA makes use of keyword density as a way of "not" letting you submit your articles.

There is no "right" number of articles you should submit in a day. It kind of depends on your writing style and how much time you have to work on article marketing.

You probably won't write so many articles and submit them in a day that you will have any problems at all.

    Hi,

I've just checked my stats on Ezine. I have published 489 articles and have received 33,564 clicks from those articles. That's around 68 clicks per article. A cost of around 10c per click. When compared to Adwords, it's a lot cheaper and you also get the SEO benefits, along with other sites publishing your article. You can also publish the same article elsewhere, but I'm not so sure of that added value, unless the article is spun to a considerable extent. You should also do that when publishing the same article to your own blog. Hope that helps. Thanks, Allen

If you are happy to have other sites publish your articles off of EZA then why would you say that the article needs to be spun to reap any benefit if it were to be published elsewhere?

I also have a healthy amount of clicks I've received over time from my articles across various article directories. When you compare those clicks to PPC costs and try to plug in an average number per click, it's tough to put an exact "value" on it, because the CPC could be anything.

Instead, I think it's better to look more at the quality of traffic and ultimately, your conversion rate. IMO, article marketing takes the longest to test a niche for profitability (whereas PPC can give you a good indication fast), but I feel it brings in a lot more quality, targeted traffic overall. Write a good quality article that naturally attracts readers on an evergreen subject, and you've just set yourself up for a traffic stream for years.

Nonetheless, I agree with what you said overall. If you have time and you're strapped for cash and can't afford to lose your tail in PPC and other expensive forms of marketing, article marketing can be very lucrative.

My suggestion if you're starting out? Put yourself in the readers shoes and write for THEM, not the search engines. Too many people focus on all of these tricks and other short lived tactics to rank in the SE's, yet when they get a human to actually "read" their article, that human eventually clicks out and off to another place to find their info, simply because the article is a mess.

When you put yourself on the other side of your writing, it's a lot easier to write. I can bet you'll see your CTR increase by doing it that way, too.

If you really do some good keyword research and write decent quality articles, then you're golden.

You can rank a 250 word article at #1 with EZA if you focus around a good keyword.

You can definitely get some SEO benefits from your content on your blog. If you are looking for some traffic from EZA or from the ezines like MYOB is saying, you are probably better off in teh long run, having something a bit differetn on your blog.

So when they come from somewhere else to your site they don't immediately see exactly the same information. Depending on where you are submitting your content, you could write a big article and split it into 2 sections. One for off site and one for onsite.

You might need to add a bit more information to the articel pieces so that they don't sound chopped off, but it is a solution that can work, espeically if you are in a niche where people want to do some additional investigation before they make a purchase.

Umm.. i grew up in a "English speaking" community... People around me speak in english all the time and everywhere you go, english is a requirement in my country. 90% of my friends speak english better than our "first language". My high school had a rule "All student's must speak in english during class hours"

and we were seriously fined if we were caught talking in any other language..so yea.. i would very much consider english to by my first language.

This is very near and dear to my heart, and should respond well to be directly submitted to ezine publishers. Usually what I do is find targeted publishers of ezines and submit to them before or even instead of article directories. Ezine publishers are hungry for well researched content, and will often request you as a regular contributor. It is a little more work, but results are much faster than waiting for your articles to be accepted and then indexed by EZA or other directories. As an aside, there is no better endorsement than editors of ezines to include your articles to their subscribers.

Typically, ezine publishers will pick up articles from EZA and use them in their newsletters. Besides benefitting from keywords in article directories, well written articles may be exposed to subscribers of these ezines who would not otherwise read them. Besides ezine publishers, it is also common for bloggers, site owners, and others to pick up content from directories such as EZA.

What I was suggesting is to submit your articles directly to these ezine publishers, targeting them by your niche in addition to the article directories. One excellent resource I use daily is the Directory of Ezines. It lists ezines by market including publisher contact info and direct article submission guidelines. Well written articles for the right ezine gets snapped up, and will often result in much faster traffic to your website.

    1) Your choice. Many people prefer sales pages only on their sites. That is your choice.

    2) Depends on where your article gets syndicated, how many people open your article, how many people click through the link in your resource box. There are dozens of variables that make this a difficult question to answer.

    3. Post the number of articles per day that you can consistently develop. Consistency is your friend. So post according to your own capabilities.

i am very well considering guest posting on people's blogs too.... Lets see...

i guess i can shell out up to 5 articles a day consistently...so that's 150 a month so i'll have 1800 articles in year... i think somewhere in-between... ill start outsourcing and then focus on expanding..if article marketing does have potential for long term income...i am definitely not going to put all my eggs in a single basket.
