One more tool, although iOS won't run Flash, Adobe provides a packager that converts Flash to run on iPhones and iPads, compiling as3 code for a Low Level Virtual Machine (LLVM).

The packager is still available in CS5, but probably won't be in any future versions. This doesn't mean you can't still use it. You could still create an iPhone App using the packager and then submit it to places like Cydia.

  Another alternative to use is Buzztouch. You can make your own native apps totally free. It does require some technical knowledge, but they have a great, responsive forum community where you can get help. It's a great way to learn how apps work.

Here is a developer app that I just started playing around with.
Use Appcelerator Titanium to build mobile apps for iPhone & Android and desktop apps for Windows, Mac OS X & Linux from Web technologies

One thing to keep in mind is only registered Apple Developers can put apps directly in the itunes app store. As another poster mentioned Cydia a marketplace for jailbroken iphones where anyone can sell any iOS app.

Yes, absoultely it is a good way of making apps.but i also suggest this online course for apps development and as it is not offline it is very much affordable.It provides all valuable resource for all newbies who would like to get started with edumobile iPhone Development.
