I Think I'm Going to Cry

Alright, maybe this is because it's late, maybe it's because I'm going through a hard time right now, maybe it's because I considered this particular website to be a flop . . . but I've never gotten so emotional over getting a sale before.

I've never had much luck with ClickBank. I've sold a product here and there, but I've never really focused on it. After reading about other people having great luck with it, I decided to give ClickBank another go. So, I found what I thought to be a great business model, a product with a sales page that would convince me to buy, built a site, and have been working on it off and on for the last 2 months.

The site gets a decent amount of traffic, for a new site, is keyword optimized for organic traffic, and gets about 15+ hops a day. After 2 months, over 200 hops, and no sales I pretty much wrote the site off as a dud, but decided to finish implementing my marketing plan on it because I wanted to see the site to completion for my own peace of mine. I know it probably sounds like I was giving up too easy . . . but the site has also been optimized for high PPC for Adwords so I figured I would finish my marketing plan, then if I hadn't gotten a sale I would throw Adwords on there to make money. I always like to have a Plan B when I make a site.

I was fired from my job about a week and a half ago, so I've really been devoting a lot of time to my online business while at the same time looking for new employment. I checked ClickBank earlier today and there was nothing, as usual. I just checked it a little while ago though and I had gotten a sale with $45 commission. My eyes literally started to water. Might not be a big deal to anyone but me, but I thought I would share regardless.

That's what it's all about. That's where you start. And that's how your momentum gets going. Little successes.

Congrats - and let it turn into a snowball!

That's my main marketing method for this site too, article marketing. I've done a little bit of social bookmarking and directory submission, but not a while lot.

I'll be really happy if this site can get about 3 sales a month.

I've been doing the IM thing for almost 2 years now and make about $100/month at it. Not much, but it's better than a lot of people. I'll just be tickled pink if I can get some of this big ClickBank commissions though. Right now all of my money comes from Amazon and Adsense. Too bad Amazon is probably going to pull Texas from their affiliate program. That's really going to hurt.

I have amazon affiliate sites too . you could always get a business P.O box in another state. The senator hasn't signed the bill yet right, Just hope for the best.

Exactly what rammonster said, don't let this type of legislation slow you down. Your business is an independent entity from you and that entity can exist where ever that entity pleases. If you have not incorporated yet, start piling up receipts and plan your next moves carefully.

There's a few books on amazon that are definitely worth the read:

Ultimate Guide to Forming an LLC in Any State
Surprisingly Simple: Independent Contractor, Sole Proprietor, and LLC Taxes Explained in 100 Pages or Less

You could even probably find somebody on these forums to setup the LLC in the UK (if these laws become a trend.)

Not big deal!? This is a situation every successful marketer had at their beginning of the IM career. This is the best moment ever. And most of the newbies and IM struggler still dreaming to have their first sale up. Although this is not your first sale but it's a welcome-back sale.

Thanks for sharing your feelings and congratulations.!

Keep going Kuna. Just try and work as hard as you can for the next couple of months at least and I bet you'll make much more than 1 sale. If you don't then you may want to consider your model.

Momentum is what you have right now and it takes off very slow. However, once it starts rolling, it will roll faster and faster as long as you keep working at it.

Since you're doing article marketing, it's going to take at least a few months for your articles and webpages to begin to settle and start to mature and what you'll find is those pages will mature even more and gain even more traffic as the months go by.

I'm very confident this sale is the first of many more for you.

Right now everybody is experiencing difficulties because the economic crisis. Give me some details about yourself and I'll check out what options you have for improving your online ventures.
What are your skills? What are your hobbies? What causes are you passionate about. What topics are you passionate about and have expertise in? What are your favorite books?

What is the URL of your website?

lol I appreciate your willingness to help. I'm not too worried though as of right now. I've been doing work for clients lately so I'm not completely without income. Heck, if I really wanted to I could stay 100% self employed. But, customer service isn't one of my favorite things to do. It's kind of wierd. I own forums, an authority blog, and another blog that has a few loyal readers. I just really don't like anything that requires me to directly deal with clients and customers . . . which is why I don't build lists, sell things on Ebay anymore (I used to be a PowerSeller), or do a whole lot of working with clients.

In a perfect world . . . I would build and market websites all day long for myself. THAT is my passion. Oh, and I like writing fiction, but that's more of a hobby. :p

I urge you to set up a blog with your fiction - you'll be surprised how successful you'll be - mark my words! I'm experienced in these things and I know what I'm talking about. People who are passionate about their writing will always find enthusiastic readers. You can add to your blog a section with tips for writing etc. Once you see the encouraging feedback - give it a try with publishing something via amazon/kindle (it's free and you're an amazon affiliate).

This is actually a work in progress as we speak. lol I have one blog that gets about 30,000 uniques a month and has a lot of RSS subscribers. I pitched the idea of writing a novella series for them and they loved it, so I've already written the first one in the series and stuck it on the site, free of charge to build buzz. I'm going to do a bit of article marketing for it tomorrow. The rest of the novellas in the series I'm going to charge for. This is a last ditch effort to monetize a website of non-buyers. Hopefully it will work.

I've actually written a lot of stuff and came close to being picked up by a publisher one time. But, close doesn't cut it. Maybe someday.

Hmm... you could always continue to build buzz then self-publish on createspace. You would have a massive list of potential targeted buyers.

If I built lists. :p One of my biggest downfalls as a marketer is that I don't do list building. I have a hard time forcing myself to do things that I hate, even when I know that they're super profitable.

Ouch! That was unnecessary and certainly not encouraging. As a matter of fact, my first Clickbank sale - which almost had me near tears also - was refunded within 2 weeks. However, I made another sale [sale #2] 10 days after that and sale #3 a week after that.

First, big congratulations on your sale!! That's awesome! I've been doing article marketing for two sites for about a year and a half. I got my one site up to making about $150/mo just with AdSense and sold that site. Now I'm doing article marketing on my primary site to get traffic so I can build my bookmarks business.

Like you - I haven't done any list building. I've never had success building lists, ever. I had a whopping 42 subscribers after 18 months with my previous site. On one of my current sites, I have 1 subscriber after about four months. So on my primary site, I don't even have an opt-in box. LOL I may have to look into that more closely down the road though as it may really help build repeat sales and referrals. I just have to figure out what to put in it so it makes sense to anyone who subscribes.

They come in different flavors, but basically a sniper site targets a long-tailed keyword that doesn't have a lot of competition. I do product reviews for clickbank products with them.

Most of the time you can get in the first top ten of Google with good on site SEO, and can rocket to the top with a little bit of backlink building. There quick to setup, and easy to promote.

sorry to hear about your job loss but hey..it may work out to be the best thing for you in the long run. maybe you can devote all your energies into your online projects now and make a full time living from home doing what you love. rather than kissing ass at a 9-5 job and subjecting yourself to the torment of office politics.

for your clickbank marketing have you ever tried google adwords roi tool? it allows you to see what keyword attracted your sale. you could then increase the bid on that keyword and others which are driving sales to your site

I'm doing something similar with this site. It's on page 2 for about 20 different keywords. Hopefully it'll bump up to page 1 soon.

I've never heard of the Google Adwords ROI Tool. I'll definitely have to check it out. Though I rarely do PPC. I always forget what you call it when your keywords have a high paying click rate, that's why I said PPC rate in my original post, but I know it's not the correct acronym.

All of my traffic comes from either article marketing or the search engines.

Office politics are indeed horrible. I got fired for exercising my right to freedom of speech. That sad thing is that had I not been fired I probably would have ended up getting promoted within the next 6 months. Oh well, everything happens for a reason.

lol Yeah. The very first sale I ever made I was jumping with joy.

And on a similar note, it must be my lucky day. I just sold a $600 item on Amazon. The IM Gods must be smiling down on me. I beat my monthly IM income record this month, and the month isn't even halfway over.

    It's a HUGE deal!
You did something most people don't ever do - something you yourself in the past haven't done - you stuck to a project and to just got to it. You took action and didn't move from one thing to the next to the next.

NO ONE ever forgets that first sale.

Nor the first one of EVERY new product/project since then.

    It's always SPECIAL.

And here's what I've always found the most amazing bit. Though
you've struggled and suffered and sweated and sweared until you
got that first sale, things simply seem to spiral upwards real fast
    after this.

It's almost as if the elements conspire to force you to give up - and
then, when they realize you ain't going to oblige them, they suddenly
throw up their hands and say, "Oh, well, YOU win..." - then start
    showering blessings on you!

Or the more prosaic and unimaginative would say, "You persisted,
    therefore you won."

    Who cares who's right, huh?!

Good luck with the fiction writing, it's a much tougher nut to crack
than other information products, I've found. In a year of (not)
marketing very actively, I've only had one sale of my first novel!

    All success

    Hi Ofthemix,

Congratulations on your first sale! Now what you need to do next is repeat it. Before you do, check to see which keyword that sale came from and focus on that. Getting a rank number one for that buyer keyword will definitely increase your sales.

Don't stop and keep going. Those who persist and work hard will eventually succeed in this industry. Work hard and work smart :-)

You know what, achieving my first sale is definitely the thing I'm working for

I know it's not much, but it's the best moment to any marketer at the beginning I guess.

Anyway, congratulations! You've given me a big kick of motivation to keep moving forward, thanks a lot!

I have a suggestion for you. Take a look at the 'bring the fresh' course by the hugely successful creator of 'the rich jerk' guide.. The man himself is offering it as a wso at the moment at an absolute steal of a price and quite frankly it is the only course you will ever need in order to make a good living online. It's all about doing the essentials well, so you'll get completely clued up about creating sites, content, getting loads of very high quality backlinks to push you onto the first page of google.

I would honestly advise you to invest the money you've made so far in that course and you'll probably never need to buy another product ever again. The creator, Kelly Felix is definitely one of the good guys and will offer a ton of support along with the great methods outlined in the course. Take advantage of the wso price now while it's still there. Good luck to you.

You know, to be honest if you want continuous dedicated sales from clickbank everyday without fail there are two strategies you should consider.

      1.The paid Strategy

Start off small with google adwords campaign,
-Insert the google adwords ROI tool code in your website code.
-Find keywords which are targeted to your clickbank product.
-Do keyword research for long tail and short tail versions of the keywords you have strategically selected to market your site.
-Bid on the lowest possible price for these keywords (i.e. $0.1per click)
-Test different ad copies for the ads to see which one attracts people more.
-Run the ads to see which one of the keywords are pulling sales ( use the roi tool to analyse this)
-when you find the performing keywords then delete all of the non performing ones.
-scale up your bid price on the keywords which are pulling sales.
      {when choosing your keywords always ask yourself " what would I type into google if i wanted to find this website i am promoting?" usually these keywords would come in question format sometimes use this as a base for chooosing keyword, long tail keywords usually are less competitive and cost less to bid on but can provide sales}

      2.The Free Strategy

-Determine the longtail keywords which will be used to target your site.
-write articles and submit them to high PR sites like EZA and articlesbase.
-Ensure that articles are optimized properly with the keywords being the in heading, tags and in the body of article.
-use google analytics to analyse the high impact keywords and the articles which are doing the heavy duty work.
-create more effective seo articles like those creating the high impact
-try to figure out what keywords are pulling sales as well and target them.
-keep rolling out articles continuously every month to continue building your business model.

Congratulations! Sure, it's not a million dollar day but, it's that glimmer of hope that keeps us all going / chasing our dreams isn't it?

I understand totally, once upon a time..I was the Western Ops VP for one of America's largest banks ... I had it all! Money, a beautiful home in the Colorado Rockies, a BMW, a Harley, etc,etc...

Today, I'm over worked, under payed and struggling to make the bills ...

BUT....I remain Positive, and optimistic! I've climbed the "mountain" before and I know the way to the top ..I didn't get there the first time being lazy and thinking negative thoughts and I won't get back there worrying, and living life in the rear view mirrors!

Somedays are harder than others and somedays I just want to hide and make it all go away ..Those are the days, I force myself UP and work harder!

I know you will continue to prosper as long as you keep moving forward and keep your eyes on the prize!

Congrats! I know exactly the feeling you mean. Wanting something so bad, working every day to achieve it and feeling you are not getting the level of success you deserve. Then suddenly it'll only take one sale to have the belief and confidence back. I remember at the end of '09, I didn't make a single sale(I was promoting a couple of Clickbank products and some CPA products) for 5 weeks and was so depressed about it that I was even considering giving up. I got a couple of sales over the next couple of weeks and decided 2010 would be the year I would finally make some serious income from IM. I knuckled down and really concentrated my efforts on a few areas and it was a very good year overall. 2011 has started very well too.

You sound like you have the determination and desire to succeed, so I wish you all the very best and hope there will be a lot more tears of joy

I love hearing about people's little triumphs, I know what it is like to sit and see nothing in your CB account and then when you log in you have suddenly made some money, it is magical.

I am struggling with just starting out. Granted, I've only been in this game for a few months now and I have had decent success. Though, I am now running into the problem of finding potential clients. I feel like I've called a majority of the businesses out there and pretty much all of them are just not receptive to building an online presence.

I think once I get a few different clients under my belt that it'll be easier and I can start working off referrals though getting to that point is where I'm having trouble. I'm tired of cold calling and I'm tired of trying to setup appointments.

I guess I am lucky today.
I visited to inspirational threads on warriorforum and now think that I was giving up too easy.

I myself am facing too many problems. Being an Indian, having problem with my PayPal as PayPal and RBI (Indian Bank) are playing Tom and Jerry right now. Don't know why but I am not able to access my money and get money from any of my client.

I started a new website that could have aided my financial crisis, but now I'll not be able to pay for its hosting as I am not able to access my PayPal account and I don't have a Credit Card.

But after seeing your post and one more thread, I am sure that I won;t give up soon. No matter I try till the last day of Feb and complete the whole website and rank it on 1st page and then get a account suspension mail from my hosting company for non-clearance of dues, I am going to do it with all my heart and skills.

Congratulations. Just keep building sites like these. After awhile you'll find yourself making a little bit of money here and there. It's those little sales that begin adding up.

Also working with clients is another excellent way to go. Sounds like you're definitely on the right track.

    OTM,

Just an observation... if you have been getting 15 hops per day, then you are very close. What i would surmise is that they are close to a buying decision but may need a little more persuading. In this case, if you could start getting them onto a list and have a short series of well crafted emails I bet you will start making consistent sales. That would be my first priority with the site - you have already done the work getting people there and they are interested or they wouldn't hop. So now you just got to get them over the hump and make the sale. Many times we give up when the gold is only 3 feet away...

You are going to make a great story. Failure is never an option, fight fight fight. Never get depressed and look for others to help along the way. The warrior forum is a great resource.

I struggle for 2 years online until the 3rd quarter of last year. I couldn't have succeeded without the help of others.

My suggestion is focus on one strategy and bust your butt making it work.

      It's a big deal!

Sometimes it just takes a while for that buying traffic to get to you. I found that it took about 2 months after publishing some content before I started seeing sales on a particular product.

Now from just that little bit of work I did a couple years back, I'm getting on average 1-2 sales a month from it.

      Best of luck to you!

I know it probably sounds like I was giving up too easy . . . but the site has also been optimized for high PPC for Adwords so I figured I would finish my marketing plan, then if I hadn't gotten a sale I would throw Adwords on there to make money. hi,
I have the same feeling as i signed up Clickbank for about 3 months from now and yet i didnt see any income that i earn from on line.
Very dissappointed. I even buy a tool( on line from affilicate gurus) to increase my sell or traffics. Again, another dissapointment and until now i didnt earn any commision yet. I really dont know what is going wrong of my tactic or strategy?
Anyone would like to share some fo their success story from zero money to see some money?

I actually got my method for promoting ClickBank products from this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...XDATOhJp8nKR7Q

I didn't buy the MOBs program . . . because after I read through the entire thread everything just kind of clicked in my head. I'd have to say it was my big "Aha!" moment where two years of information overload just all came together and was like . . . wow, nothing has ever made clearer sense to me. I don't see how this wouldn't work unless I just picked a super horrible product to promote.

It's a long thread but it's definitely worth a read.

YOU need more traffic! 200 hops/month is not a lot. You made a sale, you KNOW it works!! Now duplicate this, make more sites, promote more products in various niches. So much to choose from on clickbank! And write and submit articles. It DOES work. And one day you will cry if you do NOT make a sale on a day...and that should be your goal from now on
