Is this achievable? It seems the only time I get good traffic from articles is when they go "viral", like my most recent article got over 500 hits in less than 24 hours then the traffic calmed down greatly. I have a lot of articles in circulation but they don't generate that significant of an amount of consistent traffic, generally speaking, but it may be the niche. Any suggestions?

It depends on so many parameters.
Where you submit the article , the title of the article , the competition of the article's keywords and more. Generally , you need to be a patient and wait. You won't get hundreds of visitors on a daily basis (I think), but you still will get few visitors from those articles. My advice for you is to try more sources to get visitors. Like Solo-ads , Safelists , Traffic-Exchange. Yea - Articles do take some time before they started building a constant flow of traffic over time.
If you have a keyword that gets a good amount of searches per month, and you're ranked on Google for that keyword, then you've got a pretty good chance of getting a good flow of traffic. To keep that up, I would suggest building a backlink or two here and there to your article, just to make sure you maintain that ranking. I've got a few articles that have only been around for roughly two months and already have over 7,000 views. I also have some that have been around for a year and only have 130 views (on EZA). So, like I said before, it all depends on how well you research your keywords before writing the article. |

I've proven for myself personally that article marketing takes the longest to get rolling, has the poorest ROI given effort involved (outsourcing, $, time), and is by far the most inconsistent.
That being said, there are many people here proving me wrong on a daily basis. Like Trippmarx said, article marketing is just that, another form of marketing. For it to work, you must have done proper research into said market, to find out if the efforts would cater to that market, and how well they would. Also know this, the people with very consistent traffic, and very high levels of traffic, are usually in the top 1% of EA. That's a lot of articles. It can be the same as list building. It's not at all weird to have a 5,000 list producing $1,000 a month average. Using the SAME methods to drive traffic, having a 10,000 list could product $3,000 a month. I know I've experienced that. My list is 5 times what it was last year, but I make a LOT more than 5 times what I used to. Article writing might be the same way. |

Yes it's possible. But, much like video marketing it usually takes some time to build up but once the steady stream starts to come in it's usually pretty consistent.

Would agree for sure, I think article searching depends on so many factors. Just the little things like the title of the article and the popularity of the article's keywords and the niche that it is addressing. It does take time, but it is worth it in the end. You can get lots of short term traffic with great sources safelist sites and free traffic exchange sources. Hope this helps you!

People complicate themselves too much when it comes to article marketing, it is actually quite simple.
The only way you will get consistent long term traffic from your articles is if: 1. An article of yours ranks high in the search engines for a specific keyword that generates massive amounts of monthly searches (it could be hundreds, it could be thousands and there are even keywords which generate millions). 2. Your article gets featured in a site that has a lot of traffic and it stays visible to that traffic (eg: front page for a while) which is not likely to happen. 3. It is so good that it goes truly viral and keeps on getting featured all over the internet (which is even less likely to happen). This could apply to one article or to several articles. That being said, if you know how to achieve #1, as opposed to what Christopher said, article marketing has best ROI, lowest time to get rolling, lowet time/cost investment and is by far the most consistent method of traffic generation. |
