If you are good at anything, and most people are, i would head over to fiverr.com and post some gigs on there, do not stray to anything else, just persist with it and you will make some money. When you are making some decent income, then move onto something else

It sounds like a comedy sketch, almost...

Man A: "Tell me how to make money online, please"

Man B: (passes Man A a bit of paper)

        Man A: "Cheers"

        2 hours pass by

Man A: "I just made $1,846 come on, lets party"

As vickybabe said, the best way for newbies to make money is through fiverr gigs. If you can write, edit pictures or anything, you can offer it on fiverr. There is always someone willing to try you out.

As you can see yourself, if it says make $400 in 4 hours, most probably its not possible. So, start with something realistic and build up from there. Learn as you earn.

I completely agree. If you're still a newbie and want to make some money quickly, offer your services on Fiverr, its clones and also other IM forums, including in here!

There is no magic button you can press that will make you money automatically, so forget about that and start working on something real that can make you some money during this initial stage. There are a whole array of IM services you can provide, including article writing, blog set up, graphics/banners, backlinking, etc.

Depends on your skills and your brain.

The best method is whatever method you can accomplish with less time investment and higher monetary return.

You say that you want a method with no investment - well, there aren't any. You have to always invest something, like time.

Learn, search, read, apply and be patient.

You can offer your skills like what they said.
or you sell product of your own or become an affiliate.
But all of these are not instant, it'll take time and effort.

I only want to say that a small investment may make your life so much easier and you'll learn so much faster...if you really try to make money online by figuring everything out for yourself - its gonna take a lot lot longer. There are a heap of quality products that cost under $50 and have refund policies to protect you...I'd go for one of those.

Personally, I don't get the Fiverr recommendation. Can you really help yourself by getting $4 per project? Yes, you may be able to up-sell and get more, but if your time means anything to you, there are better ways.

Create a unique information product. Create a web site to sell it, then do everything humanly possible to drive traffic to it, including SEO, article marketing and solo ads.

This is a tried and true method. You have great potential to succeed if you stick to it. Don't try everything, pick a solid method like I have described and give it your best.

I disagree with most of the replies here. While I use fiverr for their cheap labor, I don't recommend people to become service providers there. Why? The biggest reason is that it is self deprecating. Train yourself that your time or service is only worth five bucks and you will get stuck in that mind set.

My recommendation is to decide on a way that you want to make money online. You can Google "how to make money online" and find a plethora of lists, as there are hundreds of methods. Find a method that interests you and then do a bit of research on it.

Once you have researched your chosen method, take action on it. Don't just read the advice and keep searching for more and more. You have to start acting.

If you decide on a service, price it low at the beginning, but by all means, don't fall into the "my time is only worth five bucks" rut.

What are your skills and talents? Are you a good writer? Do you have graphic design skills?

Fiverr isn't that great for making money online unless you have something you can offer with little effort. You don't make $5 - after fees you only make $4 - and that is very little unless you're able to make 4-5 sales (and complete the work) within an hour or so.

I recommend looking at job boards like oDesk, Elance, Freelancer.com, etc. You may find things to suit your skills online there.

There are so many ways to make money online and so many variations of those ways. Initially, you should learn about the primary ways to make money online and then dig deeper into the area that appeals to you, considering your time and talents.

Basically, making money online involves selling one of two things:

    1. A service
    2. A product

Both can be started with little investment of money initially. You can then reinvest your income and grow either your service or your product.

For newbies, it is probably best to begin by selling a service because, unless you know the internet business very well, it would be hard for a newbie to develop a product that would have a demand.

My suggestion is to start off with writing a blog and monetize it with Adsense. Here is what I recommended to a newbie on a similar thread:

    re: starting out with adsense.

Yes, it's not an millionaire overnight product but it is, IMHO, the standard in online advertising. If you can make Adsense money without getting banned, you can make it online (and still be wearing a white hat).

I would recommend that a beginner set up a simple Word Press blog and blog-journal everything he/she learns, chronicling his success and failure, his research and ideas, always being aware, of course, of 'idea thieves'.

The blog could be monetized with Adsense and eventually monetized in other ways. This blog would also be great practice in writing content.

You could also use Squidoo pages or Hubpages, for Google Adsense. It will give you some experience as you learn more.

    Best of luck to you!

You aren't going to make a lot of money quickly.. IM is a lot like most jobs you need to learn to do it first,

You wouldn't walk into a factory and get told to operate the machinery on your fist day.. you'd do the crap jobs.

I could tell you now that the easiest way to make money is to build a list, build a relationship with that list and then provide them with your own products relevant to what they need...

It only took me 5 years to work that out but when I did work it out luckily I had the knowledge to do it.

I suspect that even if you did exactly what I said above you wouldn't know where to start. So start building some sites , learn to drive traffic , learn to research keywords, learn to monetize them effectively.. If you have a site than makes you $10 a day.. monetize and test the hell out of it until it makes $20

        To the OP,

The best way to make money is build a list of 10 to 15 "Ready to buy Keywords".Then take the keywords and insert them into a high converting squeeze page. Set-up a thank you page and monetize.

Now this might scare some of you but, here we go. Set-up PPC from Yahoo and Bing. Why? You get two for the money. Microsoft owns Yahoo. Most marketers jump into Google the first thing. Google is not the only search engine out there.

If PPC scares you then learn as much as can before you start. The money that you spend on the front end with PPC the thank you page will cover that and you will build a good subscribers list first thing.

I'm not going to make the details public. If you want know the complete system then PM me.

I second that Fiverr is a great way to go. Make sure that you are posting products or services that people actually are looking for and don't lose interest when you don't get 100 orders the first day. Post a good service, be patient, and deliver what you promise and you will be making real money online in no time.

It is not possible to tell you the most 'effective' way. This is because as human beings we are all different. We all have different wants and skill sets. What works for one doesn't work for all.

    Find out:

1- Your why (Reason for wanting to market online)?
2- How much time do you have to commit every day?
3- How much money do you have to invest?
4- How much realistically (to you) do you want to make? Be specific.
5- What types of activities do like?
6- What kind of products and services do you like?
7- Do you like business opportunities or selling products like Click bank?

You really have to narrow down what you are really after and then go looking for it. There are many ways to make money online but you must first figure out what you are really after before starting any searches.

The OP didn't say anything about making a "quick buck" as many replies suggest...

He just wants an "effective way" and "no investment".

Of course, we are all different when we have to consider what is investment. For me, spending hours to learn something new = is an investment. Which brings us to the often neglected idea of investinng time in learning and doing things. Lots of time if you don't have money...

If neither money nor time is invested - don't expect anything.

Create Squidoo lenses and Hub pages so that you may make money without spending any money, and at the same time you’ll learn how to market your products and how to promote your lenses and hubs. However, these free platforms have many rules and they don’t belong only to you… It’s not a good idea to rely on them to make money. Use them for learning and making some money in the beginning.

Squidoo lenses are web pages, like mini-sites. You can sell Amazon, eBay, Clickbank products, etc. besides making money through royalties. However, only if you’ll get enough traffic will you make sales.

Here is a lens that teaches you how to make many Squidoo lenses without wasting time. You have to create too many to make money with them. And now Squidoo rules have changed, only if your lenses get enough traffic will they have a good lensrank. So, you have to promote them in forums, blogs, article directories, yahoo answers, quora, etc.

    http://www.squidoo.com/passive-income-website-traffic-squidoo-beginners-guide

Hub pages are simpler but they have their rules too. You have to post only original articles, you can post only two links to your websites, you can sell only a few Amazon and eBay products, but you make money with ads.

If you are a good writer hub pages are ideal for you. If you are not a good writer, Squidoo lenses are better. You can create stores, just rewriting the reviews you’ll find in each product’s page, without having to write anything else. Use many pictures in your lenses. Find free images at flickr.com.

Be a regular visitor at the Warrior forum and study the various lessons given by many generous warriors. You’ll learn a lot here.

After learning internet marketing, you should create your paid Wordpress blog, website, and more. Don’t rely on free platforms forever.

Sign up with amazon, pick a product that is $100 or more.

Find good buying keywords related to your product with low competition and create a list.

Set up a free blog using your amazon affiliate link.

Write an article for each keyword.

Link your articles to your site.

Just one quick way to get started, there are more ways but this is completely free.

Despite what the advertising would have you believe, internet marketing is no easier to make money at than any other business. There's a lot to learn before you start earning real money - but once you learn and find what works, it gets easier.

    I'm going to suggest a two-pronged approach:

    1. you have started a blog and plugged in amazon ads. Keep working on that. Clean up your theme. Keep posting - you only have 2 and you need at least ten. Keep the articles on topic. Create an optin form to get people on your list by offerring a free product eg a video on how to set up a wordpress blog. Write articles about your products from Amazon and post these to your blog and send them to an article directory. Focus on on this site as a learning strategy - see E. Brian Rose's Newbie Checklist on WF (pay attention to his #8 tip).

    AND

    2. try some of the free options people have suggested here for you such as selling your services on guru.com or fiver etc to earn a little cash quicker.

As an earlier poster said, to make money you have to sell something. To sell something you have to find buyers and be able to provide what they want. Simple. Just not easy.

Here is what I use. Click on my signature. You can learn quite a lot here. From creating a website to how to use facebook. I am still using this site to teach me and to fill in the blanks from all the crappy stuff that I paid for. If you need any other information, you can send me a private message. I have only found 2 people online that did not rip me off and promise me things that were not delivered. You can build a website for around 20 bucks a year and if your strategy is building a list, that costs about 20 a month for a good email service. The startup monetary cost is low but you will need to invest time.

Good Luck and be careful out there. There are a lot of shady characters.
