Depends on your niche, I guess. If you don't know how to write powerful email copy you may want to consider hiring a copywriter to help you out.

Join your competitors' lists and see what they're sending out. Analyze every aspect of them (especially the ones you know are successful). What sort of welcome e-mail they send, how often do they send follow-ups, how they pitch products etc, rip their campaigns apart and make your own better.

I know what you're saying, but remember, sending ANY copy is better than sending NO copy. Just send informational content to keep them engaged, and when you figure out what you want to sell and how you want to write the copy for it, you will get a better response because you kept them engaged all along.

A good rule of thumb is to give good content. I promote in every email, but one out of 4 are stronger and more about the actual product. I always have a main product that I will try to lead people to while giving them some useful information. I also do not believe in sending out emails every single day. I space them out either 3 or 4 days apart.

Once a month or twice a month I will send a blast with either a new product or one that is really popular, but that it is.
