Is It OK To SPAM If You Add A Disclaimer? This Guy Thinks So...

I got an unsolicited invitation via PM to participate in a surevey for someone's product research.

In the P.S. they put the following...

"P.S. If you feel you're being spammed with this kind of messages, please accept my apology and just ignore this message. I just want to create the best possible product..."

Are you freaking kidding me you uninventive ignoramus?

If you need to put in an "If you feel you're being spammed" disclaimer, please resist the urge to click the send button. You may not be a scum bag rip off spammer, but you're a spammer none the less. Just an ignorant one.

SO, in the spirit of keeping main forum posts on point and about making money...anyone care to list some legitimate ways to conduct market research?

I'll start with a few.
  • Use PPC to drive targeted prospects to a page where they can ask their #1 question about your topic
  • Lurk on forums to see what questions people in your target market are asking most frequently, as well as any new questions that multiple people are asking
  • Build a list and a relationship with that list. Then ask your subscribers to take a short survey. Either as a simple favor, or in return for a small gift.
Feel free to add any others that come to mind.

Lance, I think you pretty much covered it. Off the top of my head (I am
tired this morning) I can't think of anything to add.

I guess you could write articles, submit them to directories and then have
the resource box point to a blog where you have a questionnaire.

    That might work.

Man, I am beat this morning.

Why is the rum always gone?

        Hi Lance,

I have had a few through this forum like this. All I did was not answer and delete the message and haven't heard from them since.

I think you have a good post here.

    Hi Lance,

This is a different type of market research than what you mentioned, but go to the most popular sites where people buy things and search for a list of "hot sellers".

Anyone doing Kevin Riley's PCL also got some awesome tips for doing market research.

    All the best,
    Michael

I don't know. Would be annoying more than anything I suppose.

Somtimes if I'm waiting for a good PM I'll be excited only to find out that it is a message like that. lol

I wouldn't worry about it too much though.
