What open source cart works the best? We sell chocolates and all natural gourmet food mixes.

Thanks in advance.

What style of site you have - a static site or a blog?

I would like to run a blog style cart. Currently, I have oscommerce loaded. It seems not too bad. The problem right now is time, and I do not have time to be making templates.

Paypal's free cart is a great place to start. Customers can pay by credit card or paypal, setup is just creating a link for the product in thier tool and all your sales end up in your paypal account and makes shipping real easy.

If you go with a blog (ie Wordpress) there are hundreds if not thousands of free templates in either 1,2, or 3 column styles. You can do a search from with Wordpress or by Googling.

When starting out you probably only did a fairly basic shopping cart. We use WP e-Commerce from WordPress Ecommerce a WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin on one site and was easy to set up. We're using the Paypal option for payments. You can add graphics of the products as well as freight options. It's free for the basic version with a paid upgrade for more facilities. It can be used for both digital and physical products.

I gave up on Oscommerce as it was too complicated for a fairly basic operation I wanted.

We also use WP eStore plugin on another blog but that's more complicated.

Oscommerce feels great. It was up and running quickly, the tax tables were setup per province without much fuss. . . I am thinking that will be the one that stays. My operation is an online chocolate store. It all started on Facebook and HAS GONE BOOM. Kind of cool. Thanks for your comments.

I second the Wordpress plugin idea. Programs like ZenCart and osCommerce may have very deep back admin panels and interfaces, but when it comes down to what you need, nothing is easier than a plugin like WP E-Commerce.
