Could you advise me what this site is doing wrong?

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could advise me on my site Stop Cats Peeing

Firstly, i'm confused by the results on google. One week after i set this up I was on number 7 on fist page, with the link to my home page. Now the first time I appear is on page three and that links to just a picture.

What am I doing wrong?
How have I got a page on my wordpress that is just a picture that I use on my home page, and why would this place (not really keyword rich!)?

Secondly, I would welcome anyones review on the site, how to improve, monetize etc...

Thank you for any advice offered.

from what I have read on numerous posts, many mention new websites tend to do the google dance which is absolutely normal. Just don't stop building backlinks, do it consistently and besides building links for just 1 main keyword, try building for around 3 keywords so that it looks natural

I am not sure but from what I have judged this is the url which Google is showing: How To Stop A Cat Urinating In The House Stop cats peeing

OK, so here is the problem:

You have chosen the option of "post url", select the option of "file url" and it will link to the image instead (see attachment).

I am sure I am still missing something. Because once upload there is some option to "link to attachment page" which have to unchecked. I am not able to find it now. don't know.

Edit: I think above solution works perfectly Let me know if you still face any problem

Do not worry about the ranking for new sites. Keep building quality backlinks. News sites show these types of results just like in your case. This is normal

I think you need to fill some more empty space and add more content. Other than that your site look nice to me.

Its a very normal thing. I think your site is performing quite well considering its age.

With all new sites Google gives some extra credit for some time; after that its same like every other site. Thats why you are seeing that jump in serp ranks.

To make things better you have to mostly work on link building. And dont expect miracle from it, it takes time.

Are you consistently adding new content?

Are you consistently adding new backlinks?

Is your site submitted to RSS aggregators?

Are you social bookmarking new content?

Do you submit your content to article directories and have it point back to other content on your website?

Do you use your content and make videos with links back to your site?

Why does your first post not include your primary keyword in the title?

Why are you hiding tags and categories which could enhance your focus on the primary keyword, and allow you to spread to associated phrases?

As far as monetizing you can check Clickbank, RAP Mall, PayDotCom, PaySpree, or other affiliate product sites and find associated ebooks to use. I'd highly recommend you try to build a list of "cat owners" as your first step, to allow you to market additional cat training and supplies to them in the future.

Expect your site to dance for a while, but as you create additional content and backlinks it will stabilize and should slowly move up the SERP's with consistent effort.

    I have cats.
    I love your site.It's a good start

I like the way you've build your links so far...I like the url for the obvious call for help that it convey, however, I am a little bit concerned at the very low search volume :

    110 exact for the States
    140 worldwide...

That would of course be alleviated once you start ranking for more highly searched keywords.

Monetization could come from within an honest review section with good presell

    adsense

    amazon

One of the thing I really like about the possibilities of that site is that their is a huge amount of content that can be produced around the explanation af that type of cat behavior as well as content based on the prevention thereof.

It still leave a huge opportunity to sell products around the remediation of the consequences of that particular behavior.
A win win for visitors to the site as well as the owner

Also, are you planning to build a list?

    Good luck

The broad match is 4400 pmnth, with most competition being articles.

Would you target the broad match or always concentrate on the exact match.

The reason I ask is if I search on google I never do "exact" searches, I just type what I want and go.

So i wonder how truely reflective an exact match is?

I may be missing the point here on searches/keywords, and I obviously bow to greater knowledge

One article does not make a website, or an authority website.

Your fading, because you're not putting enough new and fresh content. If you want to get that blogged ranked, you need to be doing that on a consistent basis.

And for the love of god, build a list!

Well following should be static pages:

        1- Home page (optional)
        2- About Me/Us
        3- Contact Us
        4- Privacy Policy

As for blog posts, be consistent in posting. If you are going to post 3 posts a week then stick with it. What I am trying to say is that consistency matters. Search engines are always looking for regularly updated and full of information sites.
