How To Sell a Hot Domain Name With No Traffic?

Hi WF community!

I have a highly marketable domain name that can be used for marketers, offline marketers, sales gurus, real estate, insurance, etc.

I had great intentions for it in the past but not so much anymore, as I'm getting away from being a marketing services provider to businesses. I'm moving more toward making money online with advertising strategies via Adsense, CPA offers, etc.

The domain is ISellResults.com . That's I SELL RESULTS . com.

As you can see, this has great potential.

I own the domain for several more years, BUT I have never put any time into setting up a site and getting any amount of traffic that can be associated with the domain.

Here's where I'm stuck:

I think it's worth at least a 5 figure price, given it's marketability, etc. and so do other marketers and business associates in my circle of influence.

How do I sell a domain like this and really get what I think it's worth without a website or traffic associated with the domain?

I know someone would love to have this! I just spoke to a guy last week that just paid $50,000 for his domain and it just blew my mind!

Realistically, I don't think that my domain would sell for $50k, so I'm not trying to compare mine with his, but I do think it would sell for a low 5 figures.

What should I do?

At this point, I'd even pay a reasonable commission if someone would sell it for me and get top dollar for it.

Any ideas WF?

Rich

Go for Sedo. Get your premium domain appraisal from them to get the accurate price.

Doesn't Sedo rely on traffic as part of it's appraisal process?

I think that is one component of it. They consider other factors too.

You won't be getting 5figures for a domain like that.
    Isell*Insertwordhere*.com

Just to easy to replicate with a online thesaurus.

"Hot Domain" and "No Traffic" don't belong in the same sentence.

If you are selling a domain that has yet to be used as a real site, then it comes down to the search volume of the keywords in the domain.

Sorry .. but your domain is not really worth anything.

you can sell your domain with no traffic if the domain name is keyword rich, I sold a domain with good keywords for $200 last month, just my experience, hope this help

The best thing to do with the domain now, is probably build a website around it and sell it here in the forums or on Flippa.com If you are confident it will make a good business, you should be able to easily create a website for it. If the business model is viable, you will get bidders on Flippa.

If you want a more guaranteed price amount you can set a reserve on Flippa or try to sell the website on Craigslist.

Either way I think you are going to need to develop the domain into a viable web business to sell it.

Better not to have a site attached to a generic domain name like that before selling it.

Results? What kind of results? Divorce settlements? Hot dates? money? Real estate sales? Tax breaks?

Anyone who buys it has their own idea of what results they can provide.

      Thanks Bruce!

      That's exactly what I thought.

With that in mind, how do I sell it for top dollar?

Here's the question: If someone has a marketing/business consulting or related business, why would they pay 5 figures, or 4 figures, or 3 figures for isellresults when they could just as easily come up with their own catchy marketing/business related name and register it for less than 10 bucks? Would YOU pay 5 figures for that domain, when you could just register one of your own for a few dollars? Why?

Resellers (people who purchase domains in order to resell them for profit) are unlikely to pay top dollar for a domain like that unless it's getting traffic, lots of searches, etc., since they have to be able to make a profit when they resell it. So your market would be end users (people who want to use the domain for their own business). But that takes us back to the original question. WHY would someone pay a lot of money for a domain name that, yes, is catchy and easy to remember, but doesn't have anything else going for it? (Keeping in mind that they can just come up with a catchy, easy to remember domain name on their own)

Interesting observation. Why would someone want it? Well, why do people buy anything that they're willing to put up their hard earned cash for?

The simple answer is 'because they want it'.

It would seem to me that like any other digitally related product online that if enough perceived value is built up in the presentation, one could possibly create a demand for it.

I bought it because at the time someone else was selling it and I saw the value in the domain's marketability. There wasn't any traffic or even a website associated with it, but it was appealing to me because I felt that I could use it for my marketing consultancy. It was a great catch phrase. (Keep in mind that companies pay tens of thousands of dollars to marketing firms everyday to create catch phrases and brand identities.)

I still think it has a great deal of potential and so would anyone that 'sells results'.

The bottom line here is that you don't see the value in the domain alone. What that means to me is that you (or anyone else that thinks this is not going to sell for much) are not going to be part of my target market.

But the fact remains that there are those that will be part of my target market.

With all that being said, what are my options or what are your ideas to sell the domain for top dollar?
