So I have been trying an experiment and I wanted to share the results here.

On a recent launch we did for my wife people were asking why we sold the digital book before the physical was released so I sent an email to her list explaining that the creator makes VERY little royalty on the physical and almost 100% of the digital.

Many marketers will make up reasons that seem plausible to answer this question, but the truth works a million times better.

The result?
People buying the digital copy like crazy and emailing her to say they will buy the physical too when it comes out because they like to support her work.

This kind of play can easily backfire in some niches or if not worded properly so be careful.

Thanks for sharing this but I just want to stress the quote above again because it really depends on the niche and demographic. There are lots of niches where people don't care about things like that and it wouldn't result in a conversion increase, it might actually go down the other way.
