What are the logistical steps to sell an E-Book?

Hey guys,

I have written an E-Book (more like a report) that I am going to be selling. What are the steps that I need to take to get that done?

I need a site to host it, I need a page to talk about it - including testimonials - (is that called a squeeze page) and I need a way to get Paypal to accept payments. The only other thing that I think I would need would be a way to pay affiliate commissions if I decided to do that at some point.

Thanks!

Jeremy

Yeah, you want a squeeze page (OptimizePress / JV Press for example). Of course, there is free stuff out there, if you want.

You can accept Payment through Paypal.

With Paypal, you could just direct them to the download page after they buy. You'd probably want to use something like DL Guard, to "protect" your product(s).

You could also use Paypal in conjunction with E-Junkie. E-Junkie hosts and "protects" and "delivers" you're product. It also has an affiliate program built in. Here's an article about that:

You probably already know, it's important you build your list AND sell your product at the same time. So, maybe you have an opt-in first, to get access to something, and then you sell to them. Or have them opt-in after they buy. Maybe you could give away a free gift, give lifetime updates for the product, etc, etc.

If you use Aweber, you can link up with Paypal, so that whenever someone buys, he gets added to the list immediately. Check out this tutorial on how to do this: How Do I Integrate PayPal With AWeber? :: AWeber Knowledge Base

Also make sure you create a blog where you post at least 3 times a week about your niche. If you do it consistently you'll start to get some traffic after 2-3 months if you use the right keywords.

Wordpress is the ticket here. And make sure you have an opt in form on your blog where you could give away the same freebie your offering on your squeeze page to join your list.

After some last minute editing, I am about ready to "go live." In fact, all I have to the product itself is create a "cover" and upload it, and then, I am good.

As far as creating a "squeeze page," what are some good examples that I can get ideas from? Obviously, I will not use their stuff, but, I want to be able to create something that looks decent.

You need to hang out where the readers of the report hang out, create a positive presence over time with helpful contributions, then put a link to your sales page in your sig after you have been a member for a bit. If it is an IM product, then you are already at the right place.

It is actually a product aimed at helping customers get favorable resolutions to problems with products or services (that the company won't back up.)

    1) Create product. You can do that with word, add illustrations, videos, etc.
Save as PDF right from Word.

    2) Create attractive cover and box shots, there is some good software out there. Box Shots 3D etc. Makes it look really professional.

    3) Create your product page/landing page. Yes, lots of writing, you need to be good in selling and capturing the visitor. If you cant, hire a copy writer.

    4) Sign up at paypal

    5) Get Downloadguard

    6) Set up 5) so it works with paypal and also with clickbank. DLguard is amazing, it does it all, protects your product from thieves and makes it very easy to place payment/paypal links everywhere.

6a) You might want different pages when you sell via clickbank but ALSO want to sell via paypal. Then simply make copies of the page, one for clickbank checkout, one for paypal etc.

    7) Sign up at Clickbank (if not already done), put product in as a vendor and let it get approved. SOMETIMES you need to do smaller changes, they can be picky with certain wordings. But usually it shouldn't be a problem and a day later you have the product on clickbank.

The rest is promotion, creating buzz, twitter, fill your site with more content/articles. Go on forums, introduce product. Get affiliates for product.

      Hi Jeremy,

You have to get a related PLR to package and offer in a squeeze page so that you can build 'targetted list'.

After that you can follow up with your subscribers by offering some tips for about a week or two before introducing your ebook.

If those that subscribed in your list starts to develop confidence in you and your writings via your e-newletter, you will surely record more sales when you introduce your ebook.

      Good luck,
      Devid

Just in case the OP is not clear about the difference between a sales page and a squeeze page ...

A sales page is just that; it sells your product by stating the benefits that will be derived from purchasing it. It can be long (large) or short.

A squeeze page is a smaller quick loading page that would normally contain an opt in form (to collect an email address and perhaps a first name) linked to an autoresponder. On it you would offer a free report, chapter of your new book, or anything relevant to encourage a visitor to sign up to your mailing list. When signed up, you can then build a relationship and promote to the sign up(s) - your mailing list - your ebook and anything else.

If you promote using Traffic Exchanges, then you would use a 'splash page' which is similar to a squeeze page, but smaller and very fast loading, in order to get maximum exposure before the Traffic Exchange timer expires.

        I hope that this helps.

        Regards,
        Jeff.
