Jay Boyer of Amazon Cash Machines has posted some inspiring content

Also been watching videos by a guy called Nick Madison (I think) of Niche Market Ninja

Don't have URL's to hand but I'm sure you can look em up!

I've been following Wanda & Paula at affiliateblogonline.com (I can't make this a clickable link since I'm new...) They've had months where they've made tens of thousands solely from Amazon. They also have an ebook explaining their methods - The Amazonian Profit Plan, which I think is very good.

I don't really follow those other people, so I can't say how I compare to them. I don't know if I would consider myself a "guru", but I have over 100 Amazon sites to my name that perform quite well and have my own training course.

I originally wasn't going to chime in on this thread, but mention of the deadbeat guy pulled me into it. I have had trainees of mine that also have that particular system and they were not very impressed. I have not personally seen other Amazon courses, but I have heard that most of them are based on reviews and many of them encourage shortcuts. This is simply the opposite of the way I like to do things. When people land on your Amazon affiliate site from a search engine, you don't want them to immediately confront an ad. You want them to get comfortable with your site. Yes, simple reviews and a lot of traffic does convert to some sales. However, I simply think it's a waste to get 1-2% conversion rates that I hear most of these "gurus" get.

Useful affiliate sites that solve problems and build loyalty receive 4-6 times higher conversion rates than a typical review site.

When you add in the fact that Google is on the war path against bad content, you simply can't create low quality websites and expect them to be successful long-term. Yes, the "deadbeat" plan is certainly appealing to people that want a magical solution. Amazon affiliate sites can be just that, but when you try to take shortcuts you actually make things harder on yourself.

I doubt they would like to be called a "guru" and probably don't consider themselves one but I would throw Jan Roos and Michael Franklins names in the hat as well.

I know they most likely don’t make millions form it and aren’t considered gurus by what most know that term as however...

    Both are:

Warriors who post here regularly and help people
    Teaching people through successful WSO's
Making a living with Amazon Associates

If you are looking for people to learn from or follow here on the forum then these two would be a good start. Also…unlike most “gurus”, they actually post here regularly so following and talking to them will be much easier.

to be honest i've not listened to any one guru nor have i bought a single e-book.

when I started in january of this year I deployed common sense and put together a few sites based on my interests. I do have years of experience as a web designer and SEO, am very familiar with PHP and consider myself a good writer, so on that merit my sites are actually already performing quite well gaining between 1-5 sales daily across the board.

I put this down to the awesome tips I have picked up on this forum and marrying them up with my own ideas. schimples!

I'm trying the review site method right now and I must say that I have not got it working as yet. Plenty of visitors but few sales.

I might be changing my approach....

Chris Guthrie does extremely well out of Amazon. He got interviewed by Pat Flynn back in December about his strategy here. If you go to the Smart Passive Income blog, click on Podcast and scroll down you'll see the interview.

I think everyone has been mentioned now, but definitely check out Chris Guthrie, Jan Roos, and Dan Brock. I bought ALL of their courses and learned something from each one. If you have to get one, get Jan Roos' course as it explains everything in a step by step easy to follow format and he even builds a site in front of you. You can duplicate his model as many times as you want and it WILL make you money!

Actually sat in a webinar on Wed night with Chris Guthrie as the guest speaker.

He's the dude who sold netbookreviews.com for an undisclosed 6-digit figure.

His money making site's Make Money on the Internet - check it out.

I think what I've taken away from everything lately is to NOT concentrate on the miniscule details like make sure that plugin x is setup correctly and squeeze another 0.25% out of the keyword optimisation and to just, well actually just get your bits out there. Refinement, optimisation and tweeking is where it gets interesting because it's all to oeasy to come up with tons of ideas for micro-niches but actually you've gotta get them in place and then start learning from them.
