Why don't Clickbank Offer 100% Commissions for your affilites, but Just 75% Max ?

Why do clickbank just allow you to maximise the % of your affiliate commission to 75%? and not 85% or 90%, even 100%?

Do you ever think they will do that?

they would be competing with $7 Dollar secret script then, right?

Have you asked them? Do you think you'll learn more by asking them, or by asking Warriors to speculate on Clickbank's reasoning and motivation?

You're assuming CB would give a 100% honest answer. They may, or they may have to be careful about how they would phrase the answer. Maybe so much so that their "answer" would actually be a non-answer.

That being said, it would be interesting to see what the company line is on this issue.

Other than that, I see no harm in this thread as an intellectual exercise, as it could apply to any site that caps affiliate payments.

      All the best,

In all fairness to Alexa, I think there are a lot of threads that pop up here asking about 'why this and that' with others product, service, whatever. Not really wrong to get input from members here, but first hand info direct from the vendor or service provider is the best way to get a solid response.

To be honest, after the some of the questions (and speculative answers) that get posted here, I sometimes wonder.

I keep waiting for someone to come along and post something like...

'Hey all, I was driving down the road the other day and my car started to make this banging noise. Anyone else here having that problem?'

I would have it a guess that they want to make sure you are left with some money in your account for things like chargebacks, dormant account fees, and so on.

Since Clickbank makes money out of every transaction, you can forget about giving affiliates 100% commissions. Whether they will consider increasing the 75% cap is another matter.

I believe you can now highlight specific affiliates to receive different amounts of commission - so to reward your top affiliates I guess. I'm not sure if they let you pay more than 75% still, but there is nothing to stop you giving out private bonuses in launch competitions etc still..

You must leave some percentage for the merchants and clickbank as well. After all they are also to make money.

  • I also wish they offered 100% commission. Would be great to recruit leads and affiliates. I cant think of any technical reason to not implement it.

    Here's one thought:

It levels the playing field for those vendors who don't have back end products or upsells.

If they would allow 100% commissions, then those sellers who would offer a full 100% would attract the most affiliates, thereby shutting out those who couldn't afford to offer a full 100%.

This is only a guess, and I can see a few big gaping holes in the theory, but you never know.

I actually thought about that as well... another reason could be if 100% commissions were allowed then people would probably also drop the prices of their products accordingly thus Clickbank get less transaction fees, etc.

Who knows what these guys are thinking!

Also...I think we have already learned more from these responses than what CB would have given.

Why? Because they would only answer the question directly, at best. But we have already seen a few different angles of what it means to be a CB vendor. For that reason, I have to say the OP WILL learn MORE by asking here.

    All the best,

    No.

Mostly because such programs were abused in the past, and it's in many eyes seen as a sure sign of a ponzi scheme.

Blame the idiots who pointed it out as a feature, noting you could use that to make back the money you paid for the product right on the sales page. That is what blew it for the rest of us (I personally was going to use it for a list building exercise....but couldn't because Paypal banned the practice).
