Hello

This is my first post.

Until today I had never heard of article spinners but have now become very interested in them. I read an earlier thread on this last year in which it was asked which was the best article spinner. The conclusion seemed to be 'The Best Spinner'.

My question is more fundamental. How useful are article spinners? Our perennial fear is that we get Google slapped for duplicating content. Google is obviously aware of article spinners and the fact that people use them to write the same article over and over again but using different words.

So before I get 'The Best Spinner' I would be really interested to know how dangerous they are.

Also if there is a view that they are useful are there any special rules to follow so as not to make mistakes?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks.

Philip

They are not dangerous in the right hands. Its only a tool. I rarely ever used an article spinner, and when I did use one, it took me as long to rebuild my articles with a spinner as it did rewriting them from scratch. I was using a spinner only for the antonyms part basically.

Today, I write my new articles from scratch. Its all really up to you, but as for being a time saver, it wasn't in my case. It has been beneficial to others I'm sure so I'll let others give their opinions

    Take care,

    I'm sorry to hear it.

That's typically a fear of people who don't quite understand the difference between "duplicate content" and "syndicated content", and it's a fear reinforced by the ludicrously nonsensical and wildly unaccurate claims made on the websites of those with financially vested interests in the "spinning software/service industry". It's easy for them to exploit the perpetuation of many of the urban myths about "duplicate content penalties".

Use the search function here. Look for threads with the words "spinning" and "duplicate content" in their titles. You'll find two distinct sets of opinions represented by the participants of those threads. You don't need to be Einstein - you just need a little bit of thought, attention and judgment, to tell for yourself which side's talking sense and which side's talking nonsense.

The duplicate content penalty, as its called, is more about you having the same content on your site more than once rather than having the same-ish content in various places around the internet.

A spinner can be useful for you if your goal is to publish a lot of articles around the internet prety much for the purpose of backlinks. It is also helpful if you are in a program like NPP, AMA or MAN which require you to have your article in spin ready format before you can publish it on their network.

Other people are of the opinion that each article is much better if it is unique and that this allows for content syndication in a way that gets your articles read and clicked on rather than just mass-creating them for backlinking purposes.

It kind of depends on what your purpose is in writing in the first place. Spinning articles just using the built in auto-spin function of the thesaurus often produces articles which are just horrific to try to read. Because all that is happening is a few words are getting switched out.

If you are going to use a spinner, a good practice is to first rewrite your articel at a sentence level and then selectively choose which words are going to be used for synonyms. This probably produces the best quality spun articles.

This is only my opinion and many (most) disagree with it, perhaps justifiably so. Having said that, the practice of spinning articles in any way goes against everything I believe in related to Internet marketing.

I'm not trying to sound holier than thou (or thee), but when I put my name on something I take pride in it and wouldn't for any reason have a piece of software change so much as a punctuation mark, a word, or a phrase.

What's more, when I read something--whether an ebook, an article, or a blog post--I expect it to be a direct creation of the person with their name on it. Of course if it is a syndicated article with the original author's name in tact in a resource box that's obviously acceptable.

Aside from that, article spinning has no place in my arsenal. I just have too much pride in my works to mutate them into anything but the exact words I choose. Many disagree--probably most, but they've got their ethics and I've got mine. --Mike

I used to use article spinning, but I no longer do for the simple reason that spun articles don't accomplish what you're looking to accomplish.

They don't drive traffic (have you ever tried to read a spun article )

They don't create backlinks that stick - at least not for very long.

        They don't get syndicated.

They don't add any value to the web.

        Here's what they do accomplish:

They add tons of junk to the web.

They make you look like a spammer (and you are!)

        They consume lots of time

They put you on a treadmill as you need to keep spinning more junk and posting it online because your old junk keeps getting taken down or deindexed.

They distract you from creating quality content that does create value, that does get syndicated, that does create lasting backlinks, and that does give you a sense of pride about your business.

I don't use spinners any more, and won't every again!

My feeling is that spun articles add little-to-no collective value to the web at all, and are in fact usually a form of litter. And I don't think it's "holier than thou" (or indeed "thee", as you may say) to say so.
Unless it is being used in the most formal of circumstances, thou or thee is perfectly acceptable depending on if you view the word than more as a conjunction or as a preposition.

            To whom does "they" refer?

If you mean Ezine Articles, it's unlikely indeed, but perhaps possible if you spin it so well that it's no longer identifiable by their software. They do prohibit it, though. They certainly won't knowingly accept spun PLR.

It's highly recommended that you rewrite the article once by hand, then use the spinner to spin the rewritten article into many different spun articles.

The rule is 'Rewrite for quality. Spin for quantity.'

Yes there are two kinds of spinning. Tools like the best spinner are aimed at those who want to spin but still care about quality. Then there are junk pushbutton spinners. My customers send me testimonials of their own accord saying how they got good results from spinning. I don't think it is spammy to use a spinner to aid the generation of good content.
